Politics is the greatest tragedy of our time. It's an incalculable, ceaseless hemorrhage of time, energy, creativity, and resources funneled into an endless black hole. Billions of hours spent analyzing speeches, debating policies, casting ballots, worshipping idols, or…
I want nothing to do with all these new fanatical rightwing authoritarian activists who spend all day spinning narratives that demand you see the world through resentment. Whether Left or Right, any "win" you have is fleeting if it requires you become a miserable, anti-social…
I’m amazed at how much good there is in the world, but it rarely makes a gripping headline or stokes an online debate. It’s all the most mundane moments: a child randomly saying hi to you, someone cutting their neighbor’s grass for them, strangers congratulating the stewardess…
For people who are incredibly worried about the “Islamification of the West”, some conservatives have a lot more in common with this supposed enemy than they realize!
One of my least popular (but still correct) opinions is that adultery should be a criminal offense punishable by serious prison time for both parties involved
Just share a picture of you and your family on here to learn the wisdom behind not worrying what people think of you. Care about the perception of people who actually know you and who you respect. They—not strangers—are better able to objectively assess your strengths and flaws.
Naive view is that you shouldn’t care too much what other people think about you. But other people’s perceptions of you are probably a more accurate predictor of how you really are than your own internal self concept. So actually maybe you should care.
If you are a woman who wants to be in a happy longterm relationship, I recommend taking advice from women who are in happy longterm relationships instead of single women who hold obvious resentment toward men.
The reason you shouldn't lie to obtain your goals is because your actions always impact the outcome. Dating someone because they fell for the lies you told about yourself vs dating someone because they fell for the real you are the same outcome only in the most superficial way.
I don't think it's cringe, but more a channel for catharsis—potentially why metalheads are notoriously nice. It's good to find healthy avenues to express the darker impulses and fascinations we have rather than trying to constantly act above this and doing real evil instead.
The most cringe thing about metal is that it’s a bunch of relatively nice guys trying to act evil and scary but otherwise it’s the last great musical genre invented by white men
My fear is that short-term thinking will reach unprecedented levels as we begin to judge obstacles and success with a sense of time twisted by a media ecosystem that delivers 24/7 updates and instant responses. Some of humanity's greatest achievements took centuries or more.
This guy has become a total liar and is no less of an authoritarian ideologue than the leftists he opposes. He constantly mischaracterizes his targets, as he's doing here by claiming Heterodox only supports "reform from with" (wrong) and opposes all federal action from the Right…
Heterodox Academy is baffling. It's been around for ten years, hasn't accomplished much of anything, then feels the need to lash out at those of us who have scored real-world wins, generally in the same direction. The main conceit is that Heterodox still believes academia can…
I hate that this website—and political discourse in general—is full of people who aren’t just trying to win, but to ruin their opponents lives and exile them from society. I think most of us, even those participating in it, don’t really like it. But I have no idea how to change…
This is wrong. There have always been people who reject and abhor the good ideals of their country while sharing the same identity. You even have people in the same family who hold opposite views. And of course, the logic of this criticism is instantly disproven by the…
She was born in Britain, spent her life in Britain, speaks with a British accent – she's as "integrated" as a foreigner could be. A complete repudiation of civic nationalism.
The best way to read criticism like this is to turn it back around on the speaker. The way we judge others is almost always the same way we just ourselves. So when I see this, I see nothing more than a woman deeply afraid of her own inevitable aging.

The writer of this book is my friend @Justinawblair who has a delightfully weird, old-soul style of writing. It’s a great read if you want contemporary fantasy that’s both traditional and experimental in all the right ways ⬇️
“A suspenseful fantasy horror novel featuring veteran adventurers teetering on the edge of madness, a demon-riddled dungeon, and a boy who wants to become a knight” New review up today! 👇
I'm realizing there really is no way to "win" in our political system. Doesn't matter if you get the "right" people in—enough of them will be corrupted one way or another and become the very same people you were opposing. I've watched people who thought DEI and pandemic school…
Me when I remember that love solves all problems and God is the potential for goodness in us all:
I’m so close to saying something insane
Me every time someone is playing music on a speaker in a shared space:
I’m so close to saying something insane
You can simply say things that are true without trying to constantly force every piece of information into supporting your beliefs. You might even find that acknowledging truth independent of how it fits into your worldview helps expand that worldview.
