Welcome to the eighth day of SICSS-Penn 2025! We are honored to have @JaneEsberg of @Penn's Political Science Department, who talked about her work on using text analysis to understand political censorship.

Facilitating cross-partisan conversations is a potential intervention to address affective polarization — but the topic of discussion matters! Today, we welcome James Houghton of @CSSPenn to talk about his "deliberation lab" in this direction.

How do different people — and AI models — perceive hate speech? What are the implications of this heterogeneity in content moderation on social media? We're excited learn from @thomasrdavidson of @RutgersU at SICSS-Penn today!

On day 4, @DaniSBassett from @PennEngineers used network science to investigate the different "styles" of human curiosity — Are we more like "busybodies," "hunters," or "dancers"? — and how they might help us build better, more human-like artificial intelligence.

What is the value of a career? What are the effects of automation on the labor market? We are excited to have @Prof_Yildirim at @Wharton who is talking about "Automation, Career Values, and Political Preferences."

What can we do to address the replication crisis, the file drawer problem, and incommensurable experiments? We are honored to welcome Sean Ellis this morning to talk about the amazing "megastudies" conducted at @BehaviorChange.

The first day of SICSS-Penn 2025 just concluded with @manoelribeiro's talk "Content Curation in Online Platforms."
