We are the Democrats of the South Carolina House of Representatives. Follow our leader: @RepRutherford
How many people's taxes can you raise and still call it a tax cut? When I looked at the impact on SC House District 101 - the resulting number of residents affected well exceeded the 25% stated averages of South Carolinians who would have a tax increase! postandcourier.com/opinion/commen…
This decision will impact women across our state, harming and denying basic choices for women’s healthcare, including birth control, cancer screenings, and related matters…as our state continues to succumb to extremists who’s actions reduce access for women’s health and safety
In 6-3 decision, US Supreme Court sides with South Carolina in the Medina v. Planned Parenthood case, which dealt with the state’s exclusion of Planned Parenthood from its Medicaid program per 2018 McMaster executive order and whether a lawsuit could be brought to challenge it.
It’s time to do what’s right by the survivors, the families who continue to be triggered by this event to include mine and all those affected by hate. @shanemassey SC needs your leadership on this to pass hate crime legislation in this state!
talkingpointsmemo.com/news/generatio… 10 years ago today, 9 lives were taken at Mother Emanuel AME. That night changed Charleston — and it changed me. I never imagined being part of this story, but I’m honored to represent my family in the fight for justice against hate. We remember 🙏🏾
Political violence must never be tolerated. It’s up to all of us to tone down the rhetoric and make it clear that we can resolve our differences peacefully. My heart is with the families of Rep. Hortman, Sen. Josh Hoffman, and the people of Minnesota in the wake of this tragedy.
When your @AGAlanWilson is careless with their words and the power of their voice, we must be safe and aware. As a SC Dem, we don't support lawlessness and we truly back our blue but can all of you say the same? #SCPol #New52
the BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL is already having major impacts on the Pee Dee-This really is a GUT PUNCH for our region-AESC announced on Thursday that it would be pausing construction at its facility in Florence due to policy and market uncertainty. Source: WPDE share.google/hS1iqLXEGBKOgk…
Congratulations to Keishan Scott on winning the 2025 special election for SC House District 50! At just 24, Rep. Scott is bringing fresh energy and bold leadership to Lee, Sumter, and Kershaw counties. Let's go, Keishan! #SCDems #SCPolitics
This weekend, Democrats from across the state came together for the @scdp Convention. We’re proud of Rep. @RKirbySC, who was elected 1st Vice Chair, Rep. @chandradillard & @RepWetmore who were Convention Co-Chairs, and Rep. @Dr_JLJohnson, who is exploring a run for governor!

There is absolutely no place in the South Carolina General Assembly for this type of rhetoric. It's time for the @SCHouseGOP to act accordingly and stand up for what's right! #SCPol #New52 scdailygazette.com/2025/05/09/dem…
Yesterday Rep. @Dr_JLJohnson and I introduced House Resolution 4556 which would formally censure Rep. John McCravy. He is my official statement
Today the House adjourned “sine die” which brings an end to the legislative session. #RutherfordReport
Nearly 1 in 4 South Carolinians will see their taxes go UP under the GOP’s new tax plan. Eliminating key deductions hurts working families while the wealthiest benefit. Read more about H.4216 and why we’re sounding the alarm. #SCpol #FairTaxes
Boots on the Ground is the hottest song in the country and today, The House of Representatives told our fellow South Carolinian congrats!
Tag your favorite public school teacher, and tell ‘em the S.C. General Assembly was told it could see $1.455 BILLION in tax dollars going to private schools. I despise this soon to be law…
What happened to supporting SC families @SCFreedomCaucus ? Our state employees (no matter what political party they belong to) deserve and should demand better.
The House passed a bill to expand paid parental leave for state employee to 12 weeks. H. 3645 is important pro-family legislation — but a few extremists tried to kill the bill at the last minute. Watch Rep. Beth Bernstein fight back and deliver this win for families in SC ⬇️

Watch Rep. Jermaine Johnson call out the GOP for years of inaction despite full control of the state. Remember, SC Republicans have controlled EVERYTHING for decades. It’s time to hold their feet to the fire and stop letting them dodge the blame. #EnoughIsEnough (@Dr_JLJohnson)
