Banaz Mahmod, killed in the name of 'honour', deserved protection but was instead gravely failed by agencies. 'Honour' needs explicit recognition as an aggravating factor in sentencing to prevent women's deaths and to hold perpetrators to account. 1/5
🎥 Lights, solidarity, action. SBS presents A Fearful Silence, supported by @Film_London, as part of the #DayDreamers festival curated by #HouseofAEIOU. Join to engage with stories of empowerment rooted in intersectional feminist values at 2.30pm, 26 July, at Dominion Centre.

Organisations like @SBSisters , @EalingAdvice & Hillingdon4All provide essential support to households across Ealing, Hillingdon and beyond. Last week I asked the Mayor about measures he would take to ensure funding for such services were maintained for years to come. ⤵️
Spaces like these matter. Alongside @SBSisters, @lawrsuk & @womensaid - holding the line and pushing for systemic change for Black, minoritised & migrant women: 🛑 Safety without fear ❌ The end of NRPF 💰 Longterm, ringfenced funding for ‘by & for’ services The work continues.
Last week, SBS led a panel on campaigning for change for Black, minoritised & migrant women at @womensaid’s conference. Speakers from @lawrsuk, @Imkaan, @womensaid & SBS called for 🔹 A firewall 🔹 Abolition of NRPF 🔹 Sustainable, ringfenced funding for ‘by & for’ services. 1/3
Proud to see our Policy & Comms Coordinator for VAWG, Maria Alvarez Gomez, in a panel about campaigns our organisations are leading to strengthen the protections of our communities. Happy to share spaces with impactful organisations like @SBSisters @imkaan and @womensaid 👏
