Social Democrats TD for Dublin North-West & Housing Spokesperson/ Author 'Gaffs: Why no one can get a house'
When this country was dirt poor, the State built houses. It built the estates of Marino, Crumlin and Ballymun. In towns and cities across the country, councils built housing for our people. Now, however, with unprecedented wealth we say we can't do it...
This needs support - In Tel Aviv, thousands of antiwar protesters marched on Israel’s military headquarters Tuesday, demanding an end to Israel’s war and a lifting of the Gaza siege. This is Israeli peace activist Uri Weltmann. @democracynow

This Government is directionless. Throwing billions of euros in the NDP at the housing crisis without announcing a radical reset in policy will result in the same shortcomings successive governments have been defined by socialdemocrats.ie/national-devel…
'Last lifelines' are collapsing in Gaza, says UN chief And the world stands by... And the world stands by.... People protest While our Governments fail to act Where is our common humanity? rte.ie/news/world/202…
A four person mortgage!!! So no longer is a single person or even a couple able to afford to buy a home Now you need four people.... We need affordable homes not this The @Independent_ie reports.. A typical property has risen by €35,000 in the past year

The Finglas Youth Forum have made a charter of rights and responsibilities which was launched on Thursday at the Finglas Youth Service. They are a brilliant group of young people who have done a really important piece of work which consulted with young people across Finglas.

Did the Government know that when it introduced this waiver system, that essentially, it was going to really distort the number of housing units being delivered, and that really it was about trying to influence the election rte.ie/news/ireland/2…

Days out from the general election last November housing commencements were up 62% Now, just six months after the general election... Housing commencements figures collapse This dishonest Government misled the public & cooked the books on housing figures to win the election!

Nobody is going to be buying these apartments. They are not for sale. They are all build-to-rent It is delusional & actually downright misleading, to say anybody is going to be buying these apartments No young person can buy any of the new homes that are being built in Dublin
Yesterday we supported Catherine Connolly's launch of her Presidential campaign. She said "I'm standing to enable people, empower people to find their own voices, to stand up and be counted and say there is a different way" Let's come together to help elect Catherine Connolly

Tonight the Government will ram through legislation to reduce apartment standards that will mean generations of Irish people will be forced to pay €3,000 a month rent to investor funds to live in dark shoeboxes An utter failure of vision & ambition to solve the housing disaster
Delighted to welcome the End of Term Oireachtas GAA Games, organised by Deputy Rory Hearne, to Trinity this week. Lots of action on the pitch!

Great to be part of a spirited @WColmcille Junior B team in our first match of the Junior B championship on Friday evening, a tough game, losing out to a strong Na Fianna side. Looking forward to the rest of the championship

Catherine Connolly- President of Ireland! Let's make it happen! Catherine would be a strong & inclusive voice for the people of Ireland. I'm delighted we, the Oireachtas members of @SocDems will nominate Catherine Connolly for President, a life-long advocate for social justice

Questioning moved on but, in the meantime, officials came back to Browne with new information - yes, the preferred bidders ARE pursuing a judicial review over his decision to pause the project. Legal papers had been delivered to the Department last Friday. (4:06pm) [5/8]
Querying the status of the project today, Rory Hearne asked if there had been any legal action pursued against the Department over it. Browne said he was unaware of any such action - adding he had only this morning briefed Cabinet on his Dept’s current legal cases. (3:42pm) [4]
