Some Michigan gubernatorial candidates gave Bridge detailed answers about how they'd improve schools. Others ... not so much. Here’s how governor candidates say they’d fix Michigan education bridgemi.com/talent-educati… via @BridgeMichigan
So far, nothing has worked — and education advocates say it may take years to see progress, even as patience runs thin. Michigan schools on hiring spree. Can it reverse ‘Titanic’ learning losses? bridgemi.com/talent-educati… via @BridgeMichigan
The answers to MI’s education crisis aren’t easy. Students of all ages are eager for future success, and their parents expect accountability from their schools. Tackling this problem has to be at the top of the priority list for #Michigan’s leaders. It’s on the top of ours.
Everyone seems to have a ready answer for why Michigan's schools are underperforming, and most of them are wrong. Fact check: What’s true, false, misleading about Michigan’s education slide bridgemi.com/talent-educati… via @BridgeMichigan
For anyone who cares about Michigan schools, this project is a deeply reported must-read from my colleagues at @BridgeMichigan: bridgemi.com/talent-educati…
Mississippi leaders acknowledged a problem with their schools and worked to fix it. It took them a decade. Data suggests we have a long road in front of us, too. Are Dems and Republicans ready to work together on this? They often haven't in the past. bridgemi.com/talent-educati…
Come on, Ron! Do you need a lesson in statistical significance? Or are you going to play the rankings game that NAEP asks reporters not to do and that you know is inaccurate?
Actually @SenPolehanki, Mississippi ranked higher than Michigan in fourth grade reading since 2019, the last three NAEPs, not just once, which you can see in the chart showing trend lines in the @BridgeMichigan article you reference. What can we learn? bridgemi.com/talent-educati…
While, I won't denigrate Mississippi's efforts to improve its academics, the picture that is being painted by at least one Michigan publication that Mississippi is outperforming Michigan on the NAEP reading test ("The Nation's Report Card") is MISLEADING. While Mississippi has…

A Mexican church has built a 22-foot, 2,000 pound statue of the baby Jesus that looks just like Phil Collins.

Support local journalism where it still exists. Companies need to be watched. Democracies need to be watched. Cities need reporters. It's heartbreaking that the nation's largest newspaper company can't (or won't) cover the sale of the largest employer in its own company town.
The top company in this town, @KelloggsUS, was founded in 1906 and has 750 employees here and was sold Thursday to a foreign company. This is the news report from the hometown @Gannett paper.
