Visiting family this weekend and my brother wanted to go shopping at the mall and holy fuck Ai slop everywhere I haven't been to the mall in years and almost every single vendor is selling shitty low quality ai prints or using ai advertisements It's bad
AI bots replying to AI slop to farm engagement from other AI bots, generating a net value of 0 for advertising (or humanity at a whole). What’s the point of all of this?
This from Bill Gates is the absolutely worst kind of take—rooted in the deceptive presumption that the arc of AI is determined by natural forces/manifest destiny, & not the result of decisions that we humans make about its development, use & governance. We are not bystanders!
Source: CNBC (March 2025): “Within 10 years, AI will replace many doctors and teachers - humans won’t be needed for most things.” ~ Bill Gates
“Grok tell me something that gives me higher status than other X users”
Let’s be really clear here. The AI companies that don’t want to negotiate with artists over usage terms for training AI have sought to portray this as a fight over technology. As the past resisting the future. It is not. Artists are contesting exploitation, not technology. 1/__
Slop is slop regardless of how long your AI written posts are.
“We’ve already stolen everything, and bribed politicians to ignore our mass theft. We’re good.”
Eventually advertisers are gonna realise that the internet is just AI made slop made by bots and viewed by bots and commented on by bots that don't consume products that are advertised to them.
not to mention the lack of development of your own artistic ability to outsource an entire process to a GPU. when you work on art you develop your skill and your artistic eye. without the eye, you can't tell what looks good. Hence all the dumb AI slop we share on here.
X engineer @TheGregYang claimed users should see “less slop” on their timelines—yet engagement farm/scam accounts like these still dominate mine. Clearly, there’s more work to be done. 5/5
Went to a musical this evening and paid $90 for a ticket. Halfway during the show some terrible AI generated art is on full display. Honestly, if you have visitors pay nearly $100 for a ticket you can afford an artist for 1 drawing 🙄
llms are slop machines. it doesn't know what it's making and it's all regurgitated from a large enough dataset to appear coherent. i'm not saying artificial intelligence is impossible but llms aren't it. businesses will face major consequences if try to replace people with ai.
BREAKING: ChatGPT CEO Sam Altman says people share personal info with ChatGPT but don’t know chats can be used as court evidence in legal cases.
We are at the point where people are delegating decision making to AI, adding slop because it was not slop enough. It's the death of creativity and human decency unless we do something about it fast.
Reminder for self-employed artists and designers out there to amend your contracts to adapt to the latest tomfoolery
AI slop is eating the world computerworld.com/article/402829…
Claim of the moment: "AI-generated ‘user’ reviews kill the value of reviews" computerworld.com/article/402829…
I saw an AI generated ad in a newspaper recently. Even offline, you can't escape the slop anymore.
