Today is my final day representing Virginia’s Seventh District in the U.S. House. Serving as your voice in Congress has been the greatest honor of my life.
I’m wishing all Virginians a very happy and safe New Year! I hope your 2025 is filled with happiness, health, and quality time spent with loved ones.
Tomorrow will be my final day serving Virginia’s Seventh District in the U.S. House. It has been the honor of a lifetime to go to work each day to get things done for Virginia. Thank you. 🇺🇸 richmond.com/opinion/column…
As they were celebrating the New Year, dozens of our fellow Americans were killed or injured in a horrific, deliberate attack. My heart is with the victims’ loved ones and the entire New Orleans community. Thank you to the federal & local law enforcement officers on the scene.
Statement from the FBI on the situation in New Orleans.
🔔 BIG NEWS: @POTUS will sign my bipartisan #SocialSecurityFairnessAct into law in just under one week. On Monday, January 6, millions of Americans — including police officers, firefighters, and federal employees — will no longer be denied the retirement benefits they earned.
🚨 BREAKING NEWS — The U.S. Senate JUST voted to send my bipartisan #SocialSecurityFairnessAct to the president's desk to repeal the WEP and the GPO — two provisions that slash the hard-earned retirement benefits of our nation’s public servants.
Delivering results for the Virginians I serve has been at the heart of everything I have done over the past six years. Because like I told @AdamLongoTV, I first came to Congress in 2019 to govern and be responsive to the needs of my neighbors in the Seventh District.
Since I first arrived in Congress six years ago, I've worked to get things done for the Virginians I serve. A look back —
President Jimmy Carter led a life of service. He donned the U.S. Navy’s uniform, dedicated himself to his home state, ascended to the Oval Office, and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his commitment to global human rights. May his legacy continue to inspire generations.

For six years, I've had the honor of serving Virginia's Seventh District. My job has been to work on your behalf — on behalf of Virginia's families and on behalf of our Virginia communities. Take a look at just a slice of what we've accomplished for our neighbors. ⬇️

2024 was a busy year, and I’m immensely proud of what my office achieved. We focused on the issues facing Virginia’s Seventh District — and we got a lot done. 👇
🚨HR 82 #SocialSecurityFairnessAct signed by Senate President Pro Temp (a formality). Next stop: a pen, a desk, and history.
More than 50,000 police officers, firefighters, federal employees, and other public servants across Virginia will soon — finally — receive the retirement benefits they paid into, but have long been denied. My #SocialSecurityFairnessAct is headed to @POTUS's desk to get it done.
🔔 My team returned more than $12 MILLION in backlogged benefits — like Social Security checks, VA benefits, tax refunds, and more — to Virginians in 2024. I’m proud of how hard our office works to deliver for residents of the Seventh District.

More than 50,000 Virginians — firefighters, police officers, federal employees — have for decades been denied earned retirement benefits. I’ve been proud to lead the charge to end this injustice. Now, my #SocialSecurityFairnessAct is headed to @POTUS’s desk to do just that.
I'm wishing a holiday filled with joy and light to all of our neighbors across Virginia beginning the celebration of Hanukkah this evening. #HappyHanukkah
Merry Christmas to everyone celebrating across the Commonwealth today! 🎄 Whether you are celebrating at home or far away, may your holiday be filled with joy, warmth, and peace.
🚨The U.S. House has signed our bipartisan #SocialSecurityFairnessAct! Now the bill heads to the U.S. Senate to be signed before heading to @POTUS’s desk to be signed into LAW. Let’s get it done!
