Across our district #NJ09 this weekend in #Clifton #Passaic #Paterson we had beautiful celebrations in honor of our vibrant Peruvian American community, one of the largest in our whole country! 🇺🇸🇵🇪🇺🇸🇵🇪

I was happy to sit down with veterans from our district and North Jersey. I wanted to hear their concerns, let them know what resources our office can provide, and tell them I will fight any mass firings at the VA that would hurt veterans’ health care.

The more Americans learn about the big ugly Republican budget law the more they hate it. Stealing health care from 17,000,000 people will do that.

This week I visited the Paterson VA clinic with @RepDWStweets to thank the staff for their vital work and ask what they need from Congress. We reiterated our opposition to massive proposed Trump admin cuts to the VA and our shared support for the VA and VA staff.

Yet another federal court has blocked the Trump administration’s attempt to overturn the Constitution. Birthright American citizenship is a foundation of our nation and the Constitution’s text could not be clearer.

For a month the Trump admin has been holding $162 million in education funding for New Jersey hostage, incl $2,414,000 for schools in our district. After we demanded the money be released the admin today said it will free the funds. It is time. Our schools need this support now.

A new report finds the Republican budget law could kill 1,000 Americans every year from cruel Medicaid cuts. In our district over 195,000 people rely on Medicaid. The Republican budget is one of the most destructive bills ever passed by Congress.

So far this year the IRS has shed one-quarter of its entire work force. These cuts will slow your tax refunds, harm customer service, and let wealthy tax cheats run rampant. So I just joined 52 House colleagues demanding answers from the new IRS Commissioner.

I am proud to sign on as a cosponsor to my colleague @RepLucyMcBath’s legislation to revive the federal assault weapons ban. Removing weapons of war from our streets will save lives. It is time.

We just held our latest hearing of the Task Force on security for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, 2028 Summer Olympics, and the celebrations for America’s 250th birthday. With World Cup games and the final match happening in our district #NJ09 we must meet this moment.

As a member of the House Water Resources + Environment panel, water safety is a vital priority for our district #NJ09. So I was happy to welcome leaders from New Jersey American Water to discuss our state’s water infrastructure.

I just voted against an outrageous GOP bill that will decimate public broadcasting. You can draw a straight line from the mass decline of local media outlets and Americans’ growing national alienation and distrust.

Just now in our hearing I demanded answers from Transportation Secretary Duffy on what he is doing to address the continuing problems at Newark Airport. I will keep pressing the Trump admin to focus on air safety and stop the mass firings of federal workers.
