Meeting Nelson Mandela was one of the most important moments in my life that has defined my own dedication to public service. As we celebrate Mandela Day, let us never stop fighting to make his vision for a World free of injustice and inequality a reality.
Republicans’ decision to defund public broadcasting today only serves to abandon communities facing natural disasters in the future, especially rural Americans, and they should be ashamed. Read my full statement here: adams.house.gov/media-center/p…

12 years ago, I brought a coat hanger to the NC House floor to show my Republican colleagues what would happen if their dangerous abortion ban went into effect. 12 years later, I am still as committed to protecting abortion rights for everyone—because abortion is healthcare.

For too long, Black women have been forced to work twice as hard to get half as far, facing steep barriers, discrimination, and lack of opportunity to succeed. I’m proud to introduce the Black Women's Equal Pay Day Resolution and continue our fight for wage equity in America.

The One Big Ugly Bill is a complete betrayal of my constituents and every single person who calls North Carolina home. This bill isn’t just budget line items; it represents people who will be hurt by these reckless, unprecedented cuts. My statement here: adams.house.gov/media-center/p…
I just tried to make an amendment to the budget bill on the House floor that would protect against any cuts to Medicaid and SNAP. Republicans wouldn't entertain it. We are going to keep fighting this One Big, Ugly Bill.
If this budget bill passes, North Carolina will suffer. People will lose their healthcare. Prices will go up. People will not be able to eat because SNAP is going to be demolished.
The One Big, Ugly Bill is bad for North Carolina. ❌ 663,000+ NC Medicaid recipients would lose their healthcare. ❌ $500M+ in new SNAP costs that the NC would be forced to pay. ❌ 238,000 NC college students would see their student loan payments doubled or tripled.
The budget bill could cost North Carolina more than $500M to keep SNAP running for our state and threatens food security for 1.4 North Carolinians on the lifesaving food security program. Read the full letter here: adams.house.gov/media-center/p…

Gun violence affects everyone in every corner of our country. It upends lives and rips families apart. During National Gun Violence Awareness Month, I want you to know that I am fighting to end gun violence in America and keep our communities safe.
