#Syria: Anas Atiqi, a cousin of Abdul Baset Sarout, was killed last week in an Israeli airstrike in #Suwayda province. He was part of the 82nd Division. His parents were killed in Homs and one of his brothers died fighting Regime years ago.

Both things can be true: sectarian violence has targeted students and other civilians since at least February AND the new transitional government has faced challenges from certain armed Druze factions (including criminals).

A crime is a crime—no matter the victim’s sect, no matter the perpetrator. This was the principle of the Syrian revolution: to stand against injustice, whoever commits it. Today, in Syria, everyone is or has been a victim. The bloodshed must end. I don’t know how or when.

Few know that many of the victims of violence in Sweida are innocent families from eastern Syria who work in agriculture in Sweida. 47 from the Bukair tribe, mostly women & children, were executed in cold blood by the Hijri militia. Their bodies arrived at hospitals in Damascus.
