Late to this (babies are full on) but this is an exceptionally comprehensive case for change, drilling down into everything that's wrong with mental health in this country and the systemic issues that underpin it. Essential reading ahead of a General Election
Black people in the UK are more likely to experience mental health problems yet less likely to get the right support. We believe that better mental health for society cannot be achieved without better mental health for Black people. A short 🧵on how we can achieve this.
Thank you @nicholaspinnock for speaking up and encouraging us to all be mindful of the language we use when talking about mental health. Read our media guidelines if you’re looking for help on how to talk about mental health without adding to the stigma: mind.org.uk/media-centre/h…

Touted benefits reforms seem designed to target people with mental health problems. + Health Sec's comments, it's hard not to conclude that the gvt isn't just deprioritising mental health, it's actively undermining the lives of those with mental health problems. via @thetimes

such a powerful piece about the deep-rooted racism in our mental health system, told by Devon and Tiwa who, despite the generations between them, had equally traumatic and unjust experiences. top work @nanc_laws @MindCharity @guardiannews theguardian.com/society/2025/m…
It’s happening. A general election has been called. We want you to know first and foremost that we’re fighting your corner. And we won’t stop until everyone with a mental health problem gets support and respect. (1/2)
More young people than ever are being referred for their mental health according to new NHS data. We need to do more to support young people's wellbeing. The cost of living crisis is affecting young people with mental health problems. Here's how ⬇ (1/3)
CW: sexual abuse. @SkyNews and @Independent's investigation findings are horrifying. Mental health hospitals should be places where people are safe and cared for. No one should experience this kind of abuse. Trusts failing to address these crimes need to be held accountable.

It's a year since a joint committee of politicians published a report on the draft mental health bill. This would change how people in crisis are treated. We're still waiting on the UK govt's response. Despite all the times they said they would prioritise mental health 👇🏽 (1/4)
It's been one roller-coaster of a journey 😭 We want our mental health to be prioritised by the UK government. Reform the Mental Health Act before the general election! It's still not too late @RishiSunak . Don't forget and regret...
It's been a year since MPs urged the government to strengthen the draft #MentalHealthBill. But since then we've heard nothing about their plans to update it, or to protect people with a #LearningDisability and autistic people from the outdated laws in the #MentalHealthAct. 1/3
The fallout from the pandemic and a cost of living crisis have led to people struggling with their mental health, with many self-harming. So we welcome this promised step towards making sure people get the support they need via @Independent @MindCharity independent.co.uk/news/uk/politi…

Deeply concerning revelations by @Independent highlighting the mental health crisis we currently face. It is devastating that patients have been left in hospital for months when they could have been discharged to the community. independent.co.uk/news/health/me…
