This deserves to be remembered! In toppling Assad, Syrians have overcame a challenge that almost everyone by mid-2024 considered impossible - strongly reminding everyone that if you have a strong will and determination, you can beat even "impossible" challenges.
Syria: Kafranbel was famous for its popular banners, displayed after every Friday's prayer. This is from 2014👇
Today’s vote will have long-term implications on Ukraine’s path to the European Union. It’s a U-turn from Ukraine’s fight against corruption that’s sending shivers down the spine to everyone who have been trying to build Ukraine’s bright and just future.
Seriously concerned over today’s vote in the Rada. The dismantling of key safeguards protecting NABU’s independence is a serious step back. Independent bodies like NABU & SAPO, are essential for 🇺🇦’s EU path. Rule of Law remains in the very center of EU accession negotiations.
3/5 The inquiry also covers howitzers, tanks, aviation, etc. Some aspects – like NATO's superiority in aviation – are obvious, but in my opinion, they have little relevance to the war in Ukraine and are more important in the context of a potential NATO-Russia military conflict.

To be clear: it was not the Rada, this was not good tsar, bad boyars – it was Zelensky and Yermak who organized this and pushed it through. Orders came from the office of the president last night and the law enforcement committee passed it early morning in such great haste that…
The Rada has made a huge mistake. President @ZelenskyyUa still has the chance to fix it now and must do so urgently.
IMO, this is an incredibly stupid explanation for elimination of independence of anti-corruption institutions, instead of just taking actions against individuals if there would be evidence of them seriously breaking the law...
Ukrainian President Zelensky's first public statement on the adoption of a controversial law concerning anti-corruption bodies. "Anti-corruption infrastructure will work. Only without Russian influence - everything needs to be cleaned of this. And there must be more justice."
This did not just happen overnight, even if it feels that way. This is a shift months in the making. I wrote last week about it coming to a head – and got a lot of criticism from many of the same people now condemning Zelensky. Read this for context: ft.com/content/22f4d5…
Makes you wonder what kind of massive shit they’ve got on someone from Zelensky’s inner circle for the bill to pass the Rada and get signed into law in such a wild rush.

Germany's Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius spoke out at a press conference today and confirmed my reporting from yesterday about the Patriot situation. I have translated his entire statement for you and summarised all important points mentioned here. ➡️ As already mentioned…
A small clarification because fake news are doing the rounds again. Germany's Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius did not say at today's UDCG meeting that Germany will support #Ukraine with five Patriot fire units. He said that “Germany will contribute to providing the five…

2/5 Basically, the piece argues that Russia neither has nor can achieve 4× or 12× the artillery shell production compared to NATO, as NATO Secretary General @SecGenNATO claimed in April (cbsnews.com/news/transcrip…) and on July 5 (nytimes.com/2025/07/05/mag…).
1/5 An attempt at comparing NATO and Russian ammunition production capabilities – perhaps with a few too many 'ifs' and uncertainties (especially regarding the U.S.) – but still interesting. Feel free to debate in replies here or there, tag @legal0ve.
🇺🇸🇪🇺🇷🇺Together wh @CITeam_ru verified @SecGenNATO's statement that Russia produces 12 (!!!) times more artillery ammunition annually than all NATO countries combined. Also compared the situation with other major types of weapons. Big (really) thread
For people new to issues in Ukrainian politics @ChristopherJM is a crucial follow. One of the few non-Ukie journalists in Kyiv who has been working continuously in Ukraine since 2010 with a strong insight into the careers of people like Yermak, Zelensky or Tymoshenko before 2014
Since some have asked privately, this option is indeed easier for sure without the middlemen. Thank you for all the support this year, I am grateful for all the kind words and wishes. I will try to deliver and not give up. paypal.me/chrzestognia
Something tells me this is going to be an especially tough ask right now.
