That’s the idea! 80s “technology” is vastly affordable today. The recreation of a 1986 “Worldwide Wrestling” tv taping would be very attainable now. The hard part would be finding the talent pool who are proficient enough at fundamental pro wrestling to thrive
this is a fantastic idea. Its a big time to latch onto 80s and 90s nostalgia a return to basics what would be amazing is all references to the "World" is all set in 1985

Right! If you play it seriously and limit comedy to embarrassing the heels, like they used to it can work. Hated TNA/Impacts Ipwf and WWE’s southpaw. It felt more like making fun of old school wrestling than a tribute. There is a whole in the wrestling market for this.

You can book 1985 style wrestling sure, but you can’t recreate that atmosphere in terms of live crowd reaction.
I’d love to run a “Time Machine” project of a wrestling promotion set in 1985 that is NOT satire! Logic, sports based, wrestling excluding normalized modern wrestling tropes. Nostalgia acts always do well, but inevitably end up leaning to parody. Thoughts? 🤔
Real American was such an iconic song, but footage of his entrances using “Eye of the Tiger” give me chills every time. The room changes on the first cord and pandemonium ensues! In my house, Eye of the Tiger wasn’t from Rocky III. It meant Hulkster!!
No exaggeration, I watched that tape easily 1000 times. I didn’t know what I loved about wrestling yet, but I loved Hogan’s baby blue boots!
the cage match with Muraco was one of my favorite ones back in the day, nothing but a bloodbath fight and only lasted 6-8 mins, but the build at MSG post Mania 1 with those 2 was tremendous
As a kid, I rewatched “The Hulkster Hulk Hogan” on VHS more than any other cartoon or kids show. My obsession with pro wrestling can be traced back to the original Hulkamania Days with my brother and dad. There’s a lot of people hurting right now. 😭 Rest Easy Hulkster

I have a strong desire to have a 30-40 minute “pure wrestling” match with @Ukjamesmason or @DeanAllmark in Rhyl Town Hall in Wales: Rhyl is one of the only towns left where pure wrestling can still have the fans RED HOT!

Historically the Greatest Wrestler Ever projects have been more about performance, but I did also have overall contributions in mind when I put these two together because they made such an impact outside the ring as well I'm also a big fan of those wrestlers/promoters you named.
You’d be surprised at how few wrestlers could even fathom the idea of not using the ropes in a match now. Most schools now teach rope running as “fundamental” training and skip over actual fundamentals because the coaches themselves have never learned themselves
Sam...I 100% agree with working a match before hitting the ropes. That just jogged my memory, as that was what I did as we didn't have a ring for the first year and even then it was hit or miss if it would ever be set up 🤣🤣🤣
