Rick Helling was the staff workhorse from 1998-2001 with 12+ wins and 200+ innings each year. His 20 wins for the AL 1998 West champs tied for the MLB lead. His 93 career wins are the most ever for a North Dakota native. All other pitchers from ND have combined 95 victories.

Happy 4th of July. The Senators/Rangers franchise is 35-35 all-time on this date, 9-7 in Washington from 1961-71 and 26-28 in Texas since 1972. The Senators played July 4 doubleheaders in 1962-63-66-67-69.
The Rangers extend their condolences to the family of former manager Billy Hunter, who has passed away at the age of 97. Hunter had a 146-108 record as the Rangers’ manager in 1977-78, a .575 winning percentage that is the best in team history. Texas finished 2nd both seasons.
