@Race2Extinct
My new book”Racing to Extinction” analyzes humanity & its impending extinction through the lens of my 30+ years as an endangered species biologist with DOI.
This book provides readers with a panorama of the convergence of humanity and our planet in both time and space.

Just finding out about Titan, a moon of Saturn that has an atmosphere. Methane on Titan acts just like water on Earth as a dominant greenhouse gas. So as the Earth polar icecaps melt & shipping shakes the seafloor, methane just keeps assisting CO2 & H2O, in warming our planet.
Yes, carbon is natural. So are wildfires, volcanoes, and hurricanes. What matters is rate and scale — and we’re dumping ancient carbon into the sky millions of times faster than the natural cycle can handle. Nature had it balanced. We broke it.
Earth is a closed system & the amount of carbon on the planet never changes. The carbon cycle is vital to life & nature keeps it balanced & is used in trees, leaves & stems & digested by animals & insects. CO₂ is the basis for photosynthesis that supports life & produces oxygen.
Nice string of half-truths, red herrings, and misleading framing designed to overwhelm rather than inform. These aren’t “foundational facts.” They’re recycled talking points. The real lie? Pretending physics is a matter of opinion.
A question is not the basis for trillions of dollars of public policy. Four foundational facts expose the climate crisis lie: 1. We are in an at least 2.5 million years long ice age. 2. warm earth climates sustain a greater quantity and diversity of life than cold; 3. the sun is…
Our optimism isn’t rooted in reality. Often, it’s a form of emotional insulation — a way to stay connected, accepted, & functional. In the age of collapse, that kind of optimism becomes a quiet danger: individually protective, collectively destructive. apple.news/ASscpxXYQQImvD…
It turns out that ships aren’t just emitting CO₂ — they’re shaking methane loose from the ocean floor. The more we know, the more it feels like we’re living inside a badly-written satire. This was published in The Brighter Side News.😊🙃 thebrighterside.news/post/ship-traf…
Yes, ice cores offer powerful insight into hemispheric trends—and they also show how unprecedented today’s global CO₂ spike is. The difference now? CO₂ isn’t following climate change, it’s causing it. And no, I’m not in this for money. You?
If you were familiar with the is data and climate modeling you’d realize Greenland and Antarctica ice core data are used for hemispheric climate conditions in general and that there are even connections between the hemispheres as many of the warming and cooling periods happened…
Since 1980, Kabul has added ~3.5M people. Just that added population now uses the equivalent of 69 Olympic swimming pools of water every day. Growth hit a wall—water. Environmental resources have limits. We’re running headfirst into them. cnn.com/2025/07/19/asi…
North Dakota’s sage grouse are gone. Decades of “collaborative conservation” distracted from their extirpation. Consensus wasn’t a solution, it was a performance. We’ll do it all over again for the next species. ND Officials Say Sage Grouse….Extirpated themeateater.com/conservation/w…
Correct” CO₂ level? Ask the oceans. Ask the ice sheets. 180 ppm: glaciers bulldozed continents. 280 ppm: humans thrived. 420+ ppm: we’re triggering collapse. If you’re looking for a “correct” number, you’ve already missed the point — and the science.
What is the correct amount of carbon dioxide (CO₂) that should be in the atmosphere? Please give me an exact answer and express it in mole fraction or volume percentage form.
Ah yes, a map full of mostly Northern Hemisphere points proves it was global. Meanwhile, modern warming is actually global, affecting oceans, poles, and tropics alike. Cherry-picked paleo-data doesn’t erase today’s anthropogenic trend.
REGIONAL? "Except for the Antarctic continent, everywhere on the globe where an adequate record has been obtained, conditions during the YD appear to have been more glacial-like than those characterizing the preceding Bölling-Allerød warm period. Summarized in Fig. 2 are sites…
The Carboniferous collapse wasn’t caused by low CO₂—it followed massive volcanic shifts and climate swings over millions of years. Today’s rapid CO₂ spike is human-made, global, and destabilizing ecosystems that once thrived under stability.
The last time CO2 levels were this low there was a global extinction event (Carboniferous Rainforest Collapse); the current 1.2°C of warming since 1850 is well within natural rates of climate change and certainly saved the world from a major ecological catastrophe
Yes—abrupt REGIONAL shifts did happen during glacial periods. That same science shows today’s GLOBAL warming is different: it’s driven by CO₂, happening everywhere, and pushing us out of the stable Holocene climate humans evolved in.
"Yes, the climate has changed before. But not this fast" Thanks for sharing your ignorance with us. 👍
Funny how deniers suddenly love paleoclimate data—when it fits their narrative. Yes, the Younger Dryas saw abrupt REGIONAL change. The same science shows CO₂ is the main GLOBAL driver—and today’s levels are the highest in 3 million years.
During the Younger Dryas, in the northern hemisphere, the climate changed about 10 times as fast as today. Cheers.
Ice cores show fast regional shifts like D-O events, but nothing matches today’s global warming rate. What’s pathetic is pretending a Greenland temperature spike equals planetary collapse. I wrote a book. You read a meme and called it science.
all of the ice core data supports this conclusion of warming at several fold the rate of today. the fact that you do not know this data is pathetic. how in the hell did you write a book not knowing this basic information?
The fastest natural warming events during the last ice age happened over centuries. We’re warming at breakneck speed in decades. I did educate myself. You just googled “last ice age” and stopped reading at the headline.
sorry lyle, the climate warmed several fold more quickly at times during the last ice age... please educate yourself before you tweet, you are spreading misinformation pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn…
It’s an illusion if you focus on your screensaver and not your windows.
Perhaps the illusion of a fast changing climate is a result of easy information and psyops being used to create a false belief system to obtain compliance.
A classic mix of condescension, false certainty, and a deliberate confusion of terms. We’ve got 800,000+ years of climate records from ice, oceans, and tree rings. And they all say the same thing: This warming is fast, global, and not natural.
I love these ridiculous statements like, “Why is it changing faster than anytime in human history”. Human history goes back 300,000 years. Weather records didn’t even start until the mid 1600s so show me some climate records before that. Lyle thinks he can predict the climate…
“It’s not CO₂, it’s magnetic pole flips!” Climate denial is running out of arguments and reaching for science fiction. There’s no evidence that magnetic field changes drive modern climate trends. But CO₂? Rising fast, and heating everything. That’s real.
Actually, it just so happens to coincide with a rapidly accelerating geomagnetic excursion that started in 1850. A greatly weakened magnetic field prior to a regularly occurring cosmic pattern that flips the poles on every body in the solar system that has a magnetic core means…
This is why you don’t see more solar panels in urban areas. They heat up the environment. This adds to the ‘urban heat island’ effect, raising outdoor air temps & increasing energy spent on cooling indoor areas. nature.com/articles/s4428…
