This week @NUFBFamily named #8 Preston Stone as the starting QB. The last NU starting QB to wear #8 was Tim Hughes in 1997. Here he coverts on the gutsy 4th down play-action call to Toussaint Waterman to help the 'Cats upset Michigan State.

Tyrell Sutton is on the list of best @NUFBFamily family debuts. He was All-Big Ten as a freshman and really broke out during this game vs Northern Illinois in which he had four TDs. I wish he'd been able to be healthy during the full 2007 and 2008 seasons.

Bonus highlight today as we got the official announcement that Jack Lausch is leaving @NUFBFamily to be a full time baseball player. I think Jack is going to be a great baseball player. I also believe he had the raw tools that he eventually would've found the right fit as a QB1.

One the closest calls in @NUFBFamily's undefeated B1G season in 1995 was downstate in Champaign. Late in the game Darnell Autry scored on 4th down to give the 'Cats the lead.

The end of @NUFBFamily vs Wisconsin in 2015 was really odd. But one thing I know is the 'Cats won 10 games in 2015 and a great deal of it was due to a defense that would come through when their back was against the wall or against the end zone as you see here.

The 2011 Wildcats had some speed with Jeremy Ebert at WR and Kain Colter at QB. Here Colter hits Ebert over the middle and he runs away from the entire Cornhusker defense to give @NUFBFamily a top-10 upset in Lincoln.

In @NUFBFamily's epic 2018 Holiday Bowl comeback it was this huge return from Jared McGee which really allowed the 'Cats to grab the momentum away from Utah. Wildcats are 2-0 in bowl games against the Utes.

Drew Luckenbaugh was kicking in his first game for @NUFBFamily when it went to overtime thanks to a 99-yard 'Cats drive to score with 12 seconds left. Then in the OT Luckenbaugh was called upon to hit the winner.

Article says first two home games will be South Dakota St & Colorado. Interesting matchups. Like playing at Tulane this year…not easy non-con opponents. I appreciate wanting to play tough teams but I hope commitment to building a winning team is as deep as to building a stadium.

On the list of mobile NU QBs Clayton Thorson might not be the first guy you think of but the former @NUFBFamily QB had some moves even after a knee injury as you see here in 2018 vs Wisconsin.

Collin Ellis pick-6ed future NFL star Jared Goff twice for @NUFBFamily in 2013. In the discussion of how important non-offense TDs are to get wins getting two in a game goes a long way to success.

JJ Jefferson with a TD for @NUFBFamily here. He's a guy who was a big play maker. His late TD on the 99-yard drive vs Nebraska, explosive screen catch vs Michigan in 2018, and diving catch at MSU stand out. Hunter Johnson at QB on this toss for his first Wildcat touchdown pass.

This is what I tell people all the time. We need to work on our branding because people too often react with: there are Northwestern fans? But then they usually say: 1) you all are as passionate about your teams and love your players as much as any fan base 2) you know your sport

Cam Porter returns for year 6 with @NUFBFamily this fall. A multi-time team captain his leadership will be critical. He's run for a combined 1,152 yards and 10TDs in the past 2 years. I see him over 800 yards in '25 thanks an improved NU passing game meaning Ds can't load the box

Ben Bryant to Bryce Kirtz was a play-making combo for @NUFBFamily in 2023. This TD gave the 'Cats a lead they'd hold in the Las Vegas Bowl. It was the 5th NU Bowl win in their last 6 Bowl game appearances.

Sam Simmons with his second game winner in as many weeks for @NUFBFamily in 2000. This 54-51 game is considered by many to be the game which proved the spread offense could work. Michigan had a strong defense that season but not when they met the 'Cats.
