Today- the feast of St Valentine -760 years ago, during the first parliament to which town representatives were called, Simon de Montfort's party humiliated King Henry III in the Chapter House of Westminster Abbey. The parliament was the zenith of England's First Revolution.

We are saddened to learn of the unexpected death of medievalist Martin Aurell. Martin was one of this generation's leading scholars of the Angevin period, and his work has shaped that of many Haskins members in innumerable ways. More important, a kind and generous person!
