Earliest known photographic records of #Borobudur, the Buddhist temple built in the 9th century in Java. Taken by engraver Isidore van Kinsbergen in the 1870s, they presented to the world a realistic depiction of this awe-inspiring, spiritually significant temple. (Photo 56)
