$ALK talk today of softer demand for air travel. I'll offer an anecdote. Booked travel from Oregon to Reno 2 weeks out. Had to change flight 2 times, each closer to travel date. Each time my rebook resulted in credits. Never had that happen before.
$COF I hadn't given a lot of thought to the asset quality at DFS. But the jump in COF's provision for losses brought this front and center. Seems like COF is making a bet that the DSF portfolio asset quality issues will be dwarfed by benefits of moving to DFS network.
$COF an interesting nugget from earnings call. I think they said that about 2/3 of NIM improvement was due to changing the way late fees are incorporated into interest income. Apparently $COF includes them whereas Discover (along with virtually all cc companies) didn't.
$COF another wow! Company's earnings call running at 1 1/2 hours now.
$byon is a +50% shareholder in tZero. Loving the pop in $BYON stock price on news of letter to tZERO demanding a public listing. But, why did BYON need to send a letter in the first place?
$NHEC watching the Apple TV show "Sticks." (good show by the way). One of the characters with some found money invests in a helium stock. I thought ,"wonder if there are actually helium stocks?" Found NHEC and now I'm in a helium stock. Very random.
$ENVX at the Allegheny Conference in PA yesterday a representative of the U.S. Army Innovation Center in Pittsburg spoke about their efforts to bring AI to the edge on the battlefield. Has to be a positive for the company.
$EOSE whether or not the company makes any news at the PA Energy and Innovation Summit today, one thing is clear - the company is located in exactly the right place.
$EOSE there was an emphasis in today's Allegheny Conference session on deals being announced tomorrow. Not stated specifically with respect to EOSE but more generally. But even stated by Cerberus moderated on first panel.
$EOSE Cerberus guy moderating the first panel leads by talking about the importance of power. Shouts out $EOSE and the importance of energy storage to AI, robotics and defense.
$GAP don't sleep on the company's ability to navigate tariffs. Countries of origin are diversified. An ample negative cash conversion cycle gives company negotiating chips with suppliers. Suppliers absorb some of tariffs in exchange for getting paid sooner.
#singapore2025 GDP surprise may be good news for U.S. Historical correlation between U.S. and Singapore GDP is .969, a strong positive correlation.
Companies like $GAP and $LEVI seem well positioned to deal with tariffs. With negative cash conversion cycles they are in a position to negotiate with suppliers to absorb some of the tariff increase in exchange for payment terms more favorable to suppliers. $GAP especially.
While not commenting on whether automatic line calls # are good or bad, gotta ask why Wimbledon couldn't find voices that are less harsh? The virtual voices sound so critical of the shots they call "out" or "fault." #Wimbledon2025
$ENVX don't get the timing of the pre-announced earnings in the AM and the warrant announcement later in the day. Management obviously knew it planned to issue warrants when it made the earnings announcement. Clearly material. Should've been disclosed at the same time.
