This summer, incoming sophomore Nidhi Deshpande is gaining hands-on experience at Idaho Milk Products in Jerome, Idaho. She’s diving into ice cream formulation, exploring applications of the company’s milk protein powders and milk permeate powders in ice cream products.🍦

This summer, Food Science student Gwen Brubaker got a taste of France during a study abroad experience at Purpan in Toulouse. Gwen immersed herself in French culture while studying wine, beer, and cheese in the classroom, then bringing those lessons to life through hands-on labs.

This summer, our students are growing their skill set and knowledge base through internships. Incoming sophomore Ella Rhodes is in Austin, Indiana, interning with Morgan Foods in their R&D department working on allergen-free soups, vegetarian options and sugar-free products.



School is in session… Better Process Control School, that is! This course certifies supervisors of thermal processing systems, acidification and container closure evaluation programs for low-acid and acidified foods in closed containers. Thanks to those who joined us this week!

Last week, we welcomed Indiana high school students to Nelson Hall for 4-H Academy. From aquaponics to fermentation to food safety, attendees explored the science behind food while getting a little doughy along the way. We hope inspired a few future food scientists!
