People who've not had any suffering tend to be the most apathetic to the suffering of others. The epitome of selfishness. Do we all need some pain to foster compassion towards others? Do you need pain as a catalyst to create a emotional bridge & have compassion towards others?

The way the world works is you gain more wealth and power by being obsequious to wealth and power. That's the number one factor that climbs you up the economic ladder. Deference and not being critical to authority, wealth or influence give you keys to open new doors.
