Prevedel Lab
@Prevedel_Lab
The Prevedel lab @EMBL Heidelberg. We develop high-speed, deep tissue as well as Brillouin microscopy techniques.
Very proud to see this published today in @naturemethods. We combine 3P microscopy, indirect adaptive optics and ECG gating to improve spatial resolution in challenging deep brain imaging conditions. Wonderful collaboration with @Agarwalneurolab & @Cornhelix.
Out today from the @Prevedel_Lab at @embl: The combination of adaptive optics with 3P microscopy and ECG-triggered gating allows high-resolution imaging of neurons and astrocytes up to 1.4 mm deep in the mouse brain. nature.com/articles/s4159…
Can AI-powered microscopes detect protein aggregation before it’s even visible? Turns out, they can! Check out our paper: "Self-Driving Microscopy Detects the Onset of Protein Aggregation and Enables Intelligent Brillouin Imaging" nature.com/articles/s4146…
Brillouin microscopy again #winning in non-invasive, live-imaging applications! Studying fruit fly embryos at pivotal point in early development, when cells change shape rapidly, @Prevedel_Lab & @_Pulzar characterised and mapped mechanical changes in 3D. rdcu.be/ev6ZX
Fantastic work by @_Pulzar! See below the updated & published version of our paper on the mechanical dynamics of cells during Drosophila gastrulation - out now in @NatureComms! Congrats to the whole team - wonderful collaboration with the labs of @mleptin & Julio Belmonte 🥳🥂🙌
🥁 New article 📢: My #research on #Mechanobiology of #development in @NatureComms. We studied the mechanical dynamics of embryonic cell populations during #Drosophila #gastrulation using #Brillouin microscopy: rdcu.be/ev6ZX @Prevedel_Lab @embl. Highlights in thread⬇️

We are pleased to present a position paper outlining EMBL’s recommendations for @EU_Commission’s upcoming Strategy for European Life Sciences. Our recommendations span several interconnected areas, such as research infrastructures, data resources, & AI. embl.org/news/embl-anno…
Congratulations, Flora Vincent! 👏 The EMBL Group Leader received the Planet Earth Award 2025 from the Alliance of World Scientists for her research on microbial interactions in the ocean and their role in climate regulation. embl.org/news/awards-ho…
An exciting advancement in Brillouin microscopy! This new microscopy method developed by the @Prevedel_Lab allows to capture 3D images quickly enough for live-organism observation. The article is also available in Italian: embl.org/news/science-t…
An EMBL-engineered advance has pushed forward Brillouin microscopy to allow for faster, more efficient study of live organisms. The 1,000-fold improvement in speed and throughput provides a way to view light-sensitive organisms more efficiently. embl.org/news/science-t…

📣Wanna hear our story about the complex mechanical dynamics that cell populations undergo during the most important morphogenetic event? -Of course I am talking about gastrulation 🙂🤘. Join us this Wed at 10:00 CET, details -> @VGZT2020_21 @Prevedel_Lab
Check out this great write-up about our mobile Optical Coherence Microscope (OCM) and how it contributed to @embl's TREC expedition across Europe! 🔬🚚🐠
EMBL’s Prevedel Group scaled down a microscope to miniature size while scaling up imaging resolution. 🔬 Mobile OCM is a portable microscope to image label-free samples, with different magnifications and operating within fractions of a second. Read more: embl.org/news/science-t…
