Our fifth new PoL #Research Avenue is Physical Measurements in Intact Living Systems 🔬 Developing non-invasive microscopy tech is key for measuring physical forces like electric fields and pressure. This will bring our understanding of the physical basis of life to a new level!

For our seventh (and final) new #Research Avenue at PoL we're diving deep into data! For Bio-Data Science and Physics-Informed AI 💻 We will develop cutting-edge computational methods, blending theory and experimental data, to uncover hidden patterns in living systems. 📈

How does life organize itself? 🤔 PoL's fourth new #Research Avenue is Energy and Information Flows in Active Matter Our aim is to reveal the physical principles underlying the emergent dynamic organization of the living state of matter. To do so, we harness the physics of life!

Our third new #Research Avenue: Self-Organizing Active Molecular Systems! 🧬 We're uncovering the physical principles of self-organization leading to functional cytoskeletal and chromatin structures. Our research will reveal how structures emerge from molecular interactions!

Our second new #Research Avenue: Emergent Cellular Phases! 👩🔬📷 RA2 aims to connect the physical principles and underlying molecular mechanisms of how membraneless compartments (like biological condensates) form, to uncover how cells generate and control these distinct phases.
Science at PoL is evolving following our renewal by the DFG @dfg_public. Our new research goals are highlighted through 7 interwoven Research Avenues (RAs), each exploring a key biological question. Keep an eye out for our posts highlighting each RA, starting tomorrow! 🤓🧬
Congratulations to newly minted Dr. Shuting Xu 🎉㊗️@ShutingXu5 As Shuting is the first PhD graduate from our Dresden lab, I was probably more nervous than she was. But Shuting delivered an outstanding, stimulating presentation and handled the Q&A with confidence. Very well done!
