Conceptual designer helping people make paths @Pathwright.
Bet on people who think the future will be better and that they might make it so. Don’t expect much from people who think the future will be worse unless others do something about it.
Meditation for today: Marcus Aurelius’s Meditations is the only *actual* self-help book ever written.
One thing I’ve noticed about people who manage to create truly novel work in any field: they tend to take metaphor & analogy *far* more seriously than the average person. To such a degree it seems galaxy brained or superstitious to the typical professional or academic.
Pathwright's been an independent self-funded company since day one. Independent from megacorps, money guys and arbitrary "just ship it!" deadlines. The results? Slower, sustainable growth. A team that knows you. And laser focus on actually making the best software.
Now and Then is such an unexpected and apt finale for @thebeatles My favorite use of AI so far.
New research shows AI outperforming humans on analytical & creative tasks... when competing with MBA students & business consultants. AI will indeed eclipse those fields. That's good as it’ll mean fewer wasted minds like Steve Jobs joked about in 1992: youtu.be/-c4CNB80SRc?si…
"Yes, and..." people while being quietly ruthless with their ideas. (Especially your ideas.)
What’s the most natural-feeling and useful integration of AI that you’ve come across so far? (For me, it’s @loom, hands down.)
@GrokConf is back. It's an in-person conference for web folks in our hometown. We're a ’23 sponsor and we'll be there! See you in October?
"We’ve got an idea for an [innovative new app] and are looking for a [design/technical] cofounder." Is as nonsensical and as big of a 🚩red flag as: "We've got an idea for [an innovative new dish] and are looking for a [chef]."
I enjoy using image AIs as much as anyone, but in doing so, I now instantly know if an image is AI-generated. The weird part I didn’t expect is that I also perceive whatever post the image is on negatively — it instinctively feels cheap. Is anyone else experiencing this?
