Lover of legislatures & law! Practicing parliamentary counsel here to follow scholarship on legislative institutions. Views are personal, misinformed too.
I’ve spent a lot of time looking at the Charter. I think it’s time to talk about the people. I have questions. #lawtwitter /1

Sleep advice from Senator Gigantès as recorded in Hansard: "Honourable senators, I have had that complaint about all legislation, starting from the time when I arrived in Canada. When I have problems sleeping, I read the Income Tax Act. It works, just like that!"

Sometimes, parliamentary research leads you to sources you never knew about and footnotes you can't believe you're including...

It’s always nice to get cited in something, but particularly exciting when it’s in another discipline! From the world of linguistics — “How is that unparliamentary?”: The metapragmatics of ‘unparliamentary’ language in the Australian Federal Parliament sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
I very much enjoy looking for one thing in an old law journal and coming across another...

The entire coffee shop, now invested, is silent as the man repeats himself "No, that's what it means. 10% rain on the app means it's going to rain 10% of the day!" The one barista to the other (just loud enough - he knew what he was doing): 10% chance he gets a second date!
On this day in 1969 they were on the moon. Later that year they were in the gallery of the Canadian House of Commons, arguably that's much cooler than being on the moon... right?! :p

A tourism plug for the National Print Museum in Dublin -- you'll never look at the print of The Proclamation of the Irish Republic quite the same (see first image). Also - you'll learn to mind your Ps and Qs as they are quite close when you're typesetting :)

Three years ago today was the CALC conference, online because of the pandemic. Still one of the more fun law nerd trivia games -- name it using emojis :-)

The shoes on my feet? Socratic The robe I'm wearing? Socratic The dialogue I'm having? Socratic, cause I depend on me 🎶

Dublin for the weekend! I hope there are nerdy parliamentary things to do here :)
