Prof. Debabrata Maiti’s research group at the Chemistry Dept. from IITB have successfully developed a reaction which activates unreactive carbon-hydrogen (C-H) bonds to form essential compounds called lactones found in natural products and pharmaceuticals.

India's investment to R&D is stuck at 0.65% since 2014. It is embarrassing that India spends $43 per capita in research. Even Brazil ($173) or Malaysia ($293) spends much more. $5 trillion economy will remain a pipedream if knowledge generation within is ignored.
