BREAKING: 13 years since filing of Petition 122 of 2013 and 4 years after judgement, 4 survivors of post-election sexual violence in Kenya finally receive court-ordered compensation. A historic first. Justice, although delayed, has prevailed @P4HR

the-star.co.ke/news/2025-07-1… Justice at last! After years of struggle, 4 survivors are set to receive their court-ordered compensation. This is more than a payout. It's a public acknowledgement of their pain, their power, and their unrelenting fight for justice.

We need your assistance in identifying these individuals. They were part of a state-hired militia that attacked people at the KHRC office yesterday during a press conference held by Kenyan mothers. The mothers were calling for an end to arbitrary arrests, enforced disappearances,…
#PressStatement The government has deported @MartinMavenjina, KHRC’s senior legal advisor on transitional justice. Since June 25, the regime has been deliberately targeting human rights defenders, and Mavenjina's deportation is part of their strategy.
Behind your tea is a survivor who couldn't report her assault because the perpetrator was a senior manager. Power should never shield abusers. We are launching a study report on Kenya's tea sector. 🔗 youtube.com/watch?v=GoJWaJ… #ProtectTeaWorkers

PHR, as part of the Coalition against Sexual Violence, is participating in the launch of a study that documents gross human rights violations (i.e. sexual exploitation) of female workers in Kenya's tea sector. Justice for all women! #protectteaworkers

Today, PHR is participating in a public forum to present our memorandum to the Technical Working Group on GBV. We're urging the committee to prioritise election-related sexual violence (ERSV) as a key form of GBV—especially in contingency planning and in reparations.@P4HR

17 years since the TJRC Report—and survivors of the 2007/8 post-election sexual violence still await justice. In Petition 122 of 2013, 4 survivors who won at the High Court still await their court ordered compensation. 4 others still wait judgement at the Court of Appeal.
Survivors are still awaiting judgment in Petition 122 of 2013 at the Court of Appeal, more than a decade since the case began in 2013. We see a similar pattern in #BabyPendo case, where it took nearly two years for just 4 out of 12 police officers to take plea.
Despite the challenges we face in the pursuit of justice for survivors of sexual violence, our hope remains steadfast. PHR continues to push relentlessly for justice. nation.africa/kenya/news/gen…
Judgment delayed again in PEV sexual violence appeal case rgk.co.ke/news-and-polit… #HomeOfHardTruths
the-star.co.ke/news/2025-04-2… Justice delayed a second time in two weeks. The Court has again postponed the delivery of a judgement for Civil Appeal E645 of 2021, leaving survivors almost hopeless, after over a 12 year wait for justice. @P4HR
60 KMTC lecturers under the department of Clinical Medicine are set to become TOTs in Gender-Based Violence supported by Physicians for Human Rights (PHR). In attendance were Dr Nyawira Mwangi DDA, Mr Ronald Wasike Registrar, and David wafula Curriculum Development.

In a devastating setback for survivors of sexual violence in Kenya, today the Court of Appeal in Nairobi delayed the judgement in a landmark court case that sought justice for 2007-2008 election-related sexual violence. phr.org/news/kenyan-co…
PHR, together with partners, participated in a press conference expressing disappointment due to the Court of Appeal's failure to deliver judgement for survivors of sexual violence. A day late is one too many for the survivors. @P4HR
