As DDAP Secretary—and a mom and new grandma—I know supporting kids’ mental health is one of the strongest forms of #SubstanceUsePrevention. Through school programs and family supports, we’re helping PA kids build resilience early. #ChildrensMentalHealthAwarenessDay

As we approach Juneteenth—recognized each year on June 19—we’re reminded that freedom delayed is freedom denied. At DDAP, we’re working to make recovery accessible to every Pennsylvanian. Because true freedom includes the right to heal.
This #NationalWomensHealthWeek, I want to speak directly to the women who may be struggling in silence. #Substanceusedisorder is a health issue—not a personal failure. But stigma too often keeps women from getting help. Put your health first—call 1-800-662-HELP.

I was honored to join the @pablackmhc this #BlackMaternalHealthWeek to host a listening session to inform Pennsylvania’s Maternal Health Strategic Plan—a key step in the Shapiro Administration’s work to address maternal mortality & advance health equity for generations to come.

Last Thurs., @PADDAPSecretary kicked off "DDAP on the Move: Your Voice, Your Community" with a roundtable co-hosted by the Armstrong-Indiana-Clarion Drug and Alcohol Commission.
Starting next week, @PADrugAlcohol is on the road again to meet w/stakeholders—like those featured in this recap of our visit to Cambria County—to hear firsthand the challenges and triumphs of providing & receiving substance use services. instagram.com/reel/DHJ0UDkop…
Our student loan repayment program for substance use disorder treatment professionals is proof that easing financial burden helps retain our helpers and healers. The time to invest in Pennsylvania's healthcare workforce is now.
We’re facing a critical shortage of health care professionals here in Pennsylvania — especially in our rural communities. Today, I’m at Guthrie Packer Hospital in Sayre to share how my budget helps recruit more doctors, nurses, and staff.
An encouraging and empathetic support system makes all the difference for those struggling with substance use or in treatment. This #SUDTreatmentMonth, and every month, celebrate your family and friends' treatment and recovery milestones, no matter how small.
We are awarding over $8 million to expand and enhance #recovery support services to help Pennsylvanians in counties hardest hit by the opioid and #overdose crises initiate, maintain, and sustain long-term recovery. pa.gov/agencies/ddap/…
Celebrating Martin Luther King Jr., we reflect on our commitment to collaboratively advancing equity in addiction treatment, services, & supports. Join us as we march toward a healthier society where EVERY Pennsylvanian has access to the quality care they need & deserve.
With Governor Shapiro's support, we've gotten a lot of $&it done to reduce the human and economic impact of the disease of addiction, but our work is never fully done. We continue to work to expand Pennsylvanians' access to lifesaving prevention, treatment, and recovery services.
Two years ago, I took the oath of office to become the 48th Governor of Pennsylvania. And since that moment, my Administration has lived by three letters: G-S-D. We get shit done for the good people of Pennsylvania.
Last year, we licensed Pennsylvania's first mobile opioid treatment program (OTPs), expanding access to lifesaving medication-assisted treatment. Five additional mobile OTPs are in the licensure pipeline for 2025, sure to meet more Pennsylvanians where they are!
Proud to stand with @PhillyMayor to celebrate this innovative recovery housing model, designed with dignity to support long-term care, sustained #recovery from #substanceusedisorder, and overall wellness.
Last week, @PADDAPSecretary joined @PhillyMayor for the opening of the Philadelphia's Riverview Wellness Village, DDAP-licensed #recovery #housing designed to support those coming out of SUD treatment through on-campus services, including healthcare, job and life skills training.
Proud to be part of this effort to open another door for #SUD treatment! This Center will not only break down barriers in the behavioral health care, but also reduce the burden on first responders, law enforcement, and emergency depts, and provide urgent care to those in need.
The Shapiro Administration's investment in Harrisburg's @ConnectionsHlth Emergency Behavioral Health Crisis Walk-in Center is one example of its commitment to strengthening access to #substanceusedisorder & mental health treatment across the Commonwealth ➡️pacast.com/m?p=27103
