I honestly don’t understand why people still use Shum Laka as a reference for dating Bantu expansion. They weren’t particularly close to proto-Bantus genetically. IMO these dates are WAY too early

Yaya Guracha was the founder of this tribe ́and he married a Tharaka woman who later gave birth to the munyoyaya identity. After living in central Kenya for a while, they migrated southward to the Tana River. They seems to be a mixture beetwen of cushitic and bantu ancestry
Christopher Wrigley has found evidence of Bantu groups migrating north into Sudan and possibly even founding some kingdoms and clans there. Similarities can be found in Luo mythology in southern Sudan. Could explain the Bantu/West African ancestry in Anyuak.
