Bi wheelchair user, legs optional. Emergency planning, disability issues and occasional silliness. He/him
Anyone know a good source for advice when a company is selling returned items as new?
My wheelchair treadmill arrived today. Bought as new but turns out was delivered to an NHS hospital back in January 2023, stayed there for 6 months and back to the supplier. Now, I have to wait for a new one to be delivered and this one to be picked up
Fellow wheelchair jockeys, I'm looking at getting an RGK Octane FX or Octane Sub4 for my next chair. Any thoughts or experiences welcome. Currently in a HiLite

You have to love it when staff @DVLAgovuk just lie during a call. I didn't know everyone who wants to change their address on a licence has to fill out a D1. Not sure what the address change part of the website is for then.
Because I have T1D, to change the address on my driving licence I have to go to a post office to collect a physical D1 form, complete it by hand and post it. People without can just change their address online. Sounds discriminatory to me @DVLAgovuk . Can't even dl the form
I really would like to see the DfT rolling stock decision makers shadowing the assist team at London Bridge to understand why we need level boarding asap. They do what they can but the number of assists I saw in just 15 minutes while trains are delayed is unsustainable in the…
“As a disabled woman, I’ve been trying to access a cervical cancer screening for over two years. I wish this government would work on that rather than working on streamlining my access to suicide.”
This bill opens the door to scandal, abuse and injustice, disabled activists say after assisted dying bill vote @TheNotDeadYetUK @Dis_PPL_Protest @Rockinpaddy @AnnaLandre @ChelseaRoff #AssistedDying #AssistedDyingBill disabilitynewsservice.com/this-bill-open…
.@TfL charged me for two journeys on Friday because of the step free route to change from the Jubilee to the Northern line. Told by staff not to touch out but had to touch in for Northern Line. As non-disabled people aren't charged, this is discriminatory and probably unlawful
Why are organisations still using "registered disabled"? It's not been a thing for about 30 years!
.@TfL, I am arriving late to my Friday night theatre plans and having to pay £35 for a taxi because the lifts have been turned off at Kilburn due to lack of staff. Who can I email the receipt to at TfL to get this reimbursed, as a violation of the Equality Act?
Due to @TfL not sorting access out, I've had to push over 1,000m more than someone who doesn't need step free access on my journey home from work.
The step free route from the Jubilee to the Northern line at London Bridge is ridiculous. Out of the station, along Joiner Street, along St Thomas' St and then Borough High St. You have to go out and back in through the gateliine so want to know if I get charged for two trips
The amount of admin that goes with type 1 diabetes is ridiculous
Bipeds really need to learn some manners and understand what a queue is
It's funny how some people get well known for being good at PE and assume that that means what they say actually means something in the real world
This campaign to get evac chairs in all schools doesn't address what happens once out of the building. You can't stay in an evac chair for long without being at risk of harm. Evacuation planning needs to be joined up. It doesn't just end outside the door
Releasing a report declaring the intent to gut disability support systems, then voting in favour of a horrendous model of assisted dying 24 hours later: they really do hate disabled people, don't they? #AssistedDyingBill #AssistedSuicide
I do wonder if, once assisted dying becomes law, another Shipman would slip by totally unnoticed
Just seen a post on FB bragging about how many wheelchair parkrun records they have. They're a runner who pushes their partner in a wheelchair designed like a running buggy. The partner doesn't propel it at all. Not a legitimate record in my view as a wheelchair user
