In June, @TheLondonLib hosted an event arguing that Shakespeare may not have been the true author of the works bearing his name. I protested. At the High Court today, Dr Ros Barber, a prominent academic proponent of this theory, apologised to me for a series of false allegations.

Yet another case of absurdity in @Daily_Express’s treatment of finance. Bitcoin is not a financial asset as it has no intrinsic value. HMG hence has no legit business holding on to money-launderers’ holdings, which are totally unsuitable as reserves. @RachelReevesMP should sell.
The Chancellor is looking for ways to plug a hole in the UK's finances. express.co.uk/news/politics/…
Next acts of the drama: 1) Trump pardons Ghislaine Maxwell 2) Maxwell affirms Trump's version of events 3) MAGA is astonished and offended that non-MAGA suspects a quid pro quo
Civilians cannot be targets. Never. The images from Gaza are unbearable. The EU reiterates its call for the free, safe and swift flow of humanitarian aid. And for the full respect of international and humanitarian law. Civilians in Gaza have suffered too much, for too long.…
The killing of civilians seeking aid in Gaza is indefensible. I spoke again with @gideonsaar to recall our understanding on aid flow and made clear that IDF must stop killing people at distribution points. All options remain on the table if Israel doesn’t deliver on its pledges

From the archives, unused passport picture from 1974-5, still (just) a Trotskyist.
There are many annoying things about MAGA. But the most annoying is their penchant for attributing positions to people that they didn't hold, and then saying "They were wrong!" No one doubted Trump's tariffs would increase tariff revenue. When you raise taxes, you raise revenue.

He really has not a thought in his head.
Is there a single soul who would disagree with this?
Along with Reform’s proposed Bitcoin sovereign wealth fund and the Lib Dems’ proposed tax on share buybacks, there are some entertainingly madcap financial ideas around in British politics at the moment.
🚨BREAKING: Over 80,000 people have now backed my petition calling for the Government to introduce a wealth tax. I'll be handing this in to 10 Downing Street this Tuesday. Add your name below and join the call for the super-rich to pay their fair share. chng.it/2pq56bHC9t
A @reformparty_uk councillor with absolutely no idea how the state pension works. This does not bode well.
Here we go. For those of us born in the 60's, 70's we were promised by the then governments that if we worked hard, we would be entitled to a state pension. Now its 67yrs old and increasing. At this rate most of us will never see a state pension. It a disgrace. Review of state…
Of the 10k foreign prisoners, a third are on remand either awaiting sentencing or trial. Would Reform deport unconvicted prisoners?
Reform UK will deport foreign criminals and end the crisis of prison overcrowding.
Goodwin is talking nonsense, as usual. Almost everyone in this country speaks English: > 98% of residents of England & Wales speak English (or English or Welsh, in Wales) as a main language or proficiently. That’s census data - imperfect but it’s what the stats say.
🗣️ Matt Goodwin raises serious concerns: “The number of people in England who do not speak English is insane.” Is it time to insist on English fluency? What do you think? #LanguageMatters
No, I’m not.
Farage is talking about sending British citizens to Salvadoran hellholes. You OK with that? I’m not.
The Triple Lock is part of the 'spiralling welfare' bill. The State Pension is a benefit and the Triple Lock is unsustainable.
It would be wrong to scrap the pensions triple lock to cover the cost of spiralling welfare. Pensioners on fixed incomes shouldn’t pay the price for a broken system.
