If you see the flashing lights of an emergency vehicle, always move over, or slow down if you’re unable to safely change lanes. In 2024, OSHP issued 8,398 citations in work zones. Please allow folks the room to work; let’s all get home safely.

July is Vehicle Theft Prevention Month. According to NHTSA, a vehicle was stolen every 37 seconds in the U.S. in 2024.

It’s important to always maintain a safe speed to give yourself the time and space to react to potential road hazards. Speed is a contributing factor is 27% of rural roadway fatalities. Allow yourself plenty of time and space to react to road hazards.

Last week, Trooper Jordan Cole of the Norwalk Post spotted an injured owl on the roadway. He safely retrieved the bird and transferred it to the Ohio Bird Sanctuary in Mansfield for care and rehabilitation. Thank you to Trooper Cole for his quick action and compassion!

Densely populated areas often contribute to traffic congestion, which in turn can lead to an increase in speed-related crashes. Stay cautious and safe. Avoid distracted driving and pay extra attention to the road during commute times. 🚗💼

Rural areas present their own unique set of driving challenges. Things like blind curves, narrow roads and minimal lighting are common on country roads. Practice extra caution when traveling in these areas.
