The Darkest Timeline Numbersmuncher

This little comic story about how any new information that contradicts our core beliefs elicits the 'Backfire Effect' is something I wish everyone would read. It seems incredibly important as we deal with misinformation about elections, vaccines, etc. theoatmeal.com/comics/believe
Trump and his team know his voters won't spend the two minutes to realize they're being lied to over and over again. Vietnam will not pay one cent to the US for imported goods - those tariffs are 100% paid for by US businesses which are passed on to consumers via higher prices.
Our trade deal with Vietnam is a massive win for America's businesses, manufacturers, and farmers! For the FIRST TIME EVER, Vietnam will open its market to the United States. They will pay 20% to sell their products here, and 40% on transshipping - meaning if another country…
Hopping on Twitter after a nice, quiet lunch
Trump initiated the call today after caving on his initial 145% tariffs in just a few weeks. But yeah, it's China bending the knee. 😅
🚨BREAKING: President Trump held a phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Is China bending the knee?
This should surprise no one given that there are photos of Trump and Epstein, but it's hilarious that Trump made a 180 on releasing the files after that time.
Exclusive: The Justice Department told President Trump in May that his name is among many in the Epstein files on.wsj.com/4mcTIKV
Just this hour Trump said (dishonestly, again) that countries are paying the tariffs. Trump is lying, but that doesn't mean you have to repeat his lies... it makes you look really foolish.
No, you were told the consumer wouldnt be the ones paying the full tariff cost and that much of it would be absorbed by the chain. In this case GM is feeling it from their overseas production.
This is impossible because I've been told by Trump and those around him that other countries are the ones paying for the tariffs.
Breaking: General Motors' profit shrank 35% last quarter after taking a $1.1 billion tariff hit on.wsj.com/4eXz66U
An eternal truth in politics is that neither side actually cares about ballooning deficits as long as they're the ones in charge of spending all of our (and generations beyond us) money.
Trump won't do this because he can't take the pain of a falling stock market, but how does any company operate and grow when they know the rules can be changed at any moment from the emotional reaction of just one person?
🚨 BESSENT: COUNTRIES SHOULD BE AWARE THAT WE COULD SPRING BACK TO APRIL 2 LEVELS ON TARIFFS
The irony is that the only reason the stock market recovered is because Trump repealed almost all of the tariffs that caused the freefall in the first place. So Donald wasn't "right again," but folded as he always does when the stock market plummets after his tariff threats.
Donald was right again.
Mike Lee is a garbage human being mocking the assassination of two people by a man who is also in the Trump cult. Delete your account, seek help, and reflect on the life decisions that had led you to this radicalized place.
These are the words of a lifelong White Sox fan trying to make sense of the world.
In our competitive society, where it seems that only the strong and winners deserve to live, sport also teaches us how to lose. It forces us, in learning the art of losing, to confront our fragility, our limitations and our imperfections. It is through the experience of these…
Trump declaring 55% tariffs on China is worse than the 30% he lowered them to a few weeks ago. He'll lower them if the stock market dives or inflation comes roaring back.

Doug Eddings called three *horrific* strikes against the Cubs in just four innings (two which were strike three) and called a check-swing strike against Tucker that was not a strike. If MLB wants a poster-boy for robo umps, Doug Eddings is your guy.
(It's a cult)
House Speaker Mike Johnson said he hopes President Trump and Elon Musk "reconcile" but warned against challenging the president. "Do not doubt and do not second guess, and don't ever challenge the president of the United States, Donald Trump," Johnson said.…
Quite noteworthy that in May the US *lost* 8,000 manufacturing jobs, given that the entire premise of the Trump tariffs was to bring all of those manufacturing jobs back to the US.
The US added 139,000 jobs in May, beating expectations of 126,000. On the other hand, April was revised downward by 30k and March by 65k. Not nearly as great when you look under the hood...
This will enrage Trump more than anything Elon could ever say about the actual bill.
Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate.
CNN originally put peaceful in quotes when covering the terrorism in Boulder then quietly changed it to "demonstration in support of Israeli hostages." Disgraceful framing of seniors being burned because they support Israel / hostages. (h/t to @sfrantzman for 'peaceful' image)
