What most people don't realize is that IMO (and IOI, though to a different extent) aren't particularly hard. They're aimed at high schoolers, so anyone with decent uni education should be able to solve most of them.
The problem with all AI safety movements is that they think money and regulation can solve the problem. No, only theory can.
We keep asking this of capital and government despite knowing how greedy and incompetent they are. We should be asking this of mathematicians and physicists.
Ok then, @elonmusk, stop accelerating recklessly, and endorse measures for AI safety more vigorously.
