No Casino
@NoCasinoInConey
Fighting to save the treasure that is Coney Island from being replaced with an ugly casino.
Almost 70% of the NYC Council Representatives in #Brooklyn voted against demapping Coney Island for the casino owner (or abstained) Justin Brannan is a dud. Where are you Eric Adams? @NYCMayor Don't let Coney Island go down like that. This was your borough!
Monday's City Council vote on the Coney casino demapping is the most consequential vote of term-limited Justin Brannan's career as an elected CM for Coney Island. We can't tag him because he blocked us last week, but you can phone/email him at 718-748-5200, [email protected]
It's a shame we now have politicians like Justin Brannan helping the billionaire casino developer donor to his campaign Joe Sitt replace the beautiful Coney Island seaside with this monstrosity. Call your City Council person & tell them to vote NO.
🚨The City Council votes on the #ConeyIsland demapping (that would be the next steps to the casino) on June 30. This weekend, please contact your CM & tell them #NoCasinoInConey! Need help finding your CM 👉 council.nyc.gov/districts/ @LunaParkNYC @coneyislandusa @NoCasinoInConey

instagram.com/p/DMbmSjpsUDz/… The CAC for the proposed Coney Island Casino has released an email for public comments. [email protected] We need your voice NOW more than ever. Speak up and make your voice heard. NO CASINO IN CONEY ISLAND.
UPDATE July 22: The NY State Gambling Commission issued the email address where you can send comments about the Coney Island casino. [email protected]. When the Community Advisory Committee schedules the dates of its two public hearings, we'll post the info.
Unfortunately @NYCCouncil passed the Coney casino proposal to de-map public streets & acquire air rights for a hotel 2x the height allowed by zoning. The vote was 36 - yes, including the vote of Coney Island CM @JustinBrannan, 11- no, and 4 abstentions. brooklynpaper.com/city-council-a…
When so much feels out of our control, there's still an opportunity for change. This week, the Brooklyn Marine Terminal Task Force will again try to pass a flawed plan, delayed 3X, because it puts private gain over public good. Tell them to #VoteNO: voicesofthewaterfront.com
We hear you loud and clear @savecolumbiast We share the same senator and we will help vote Andrew Gounardes out if he plays around on this. Your vote is NO with Redhook @Sen_Gounardes .
Thank you @AlecBrookKrasny for appointing a #ConeyIsland resident to the committee. #ConeyIsland #Brooklyn #StandUp #NoCasino While many NY'ers know #ConeyIsland for the beach and the amusement park, it's a great community of people and families too!
The Coney casino developers are falsely claiming that gambling casinos were once a traditional business in Coney Island & @NYCPlanning bought the lie. History lesson: coneyislandhistory.org/blog/coney-cas…
Please stand with our friends in Red Hook. Please sign their petition online at qrco.de/bg6Cnn and visit them at voicesofthewaterfront.com, ColumbiaStWaterfront.com, and on Instagram @voicesofthewaterfront and @columbiastwaterfront instagram.com/p/DL0zy18Mk4N/…
This shows the casino project doesn’t have the support of the community, in Coney Island, or in Brooklyn. Please add your voice and sign the petition at ConeyIsland.com/nocasino. And let them know we don't want Coney Island replaced with a casino!
In the next phase of the approval process the casino has to show they have community support. But over 20 percent of the city council voted against the casino in Coney Island, and 68.75 percent of the entire Brooklyn city council delegation voted to reject it.
Yesterday as we expected the City Council voted to demap the streets in Coney Island for the casino 36 yes, 11 no, and 4 abstentions. Obviously we wanted the city council to vote against it but the fact that there were so many no votes & abstentions will help us in the next phase
* Today's the vote. Will Justin Brannan vote to save #ConeyIsland or will he vote with the casino? #Brooklyn *
NO CASINO ON CONEY ISLAND!!! DO NOT RUIN CONEY ISLAND WITH A CASINO! you cannot call yourself a Goth or a punk rocker if you do this…
The full Council will vote on Monday, June 30. If you don't want Coney Island to be replaced by a casino, we urge you to phone or email Coney Island Councilman @JustinBrannan, and your council member. Find your district: council.nyc.gov/districts/ 2/2
On June 26, the @NYCCouncil's Land Use and Zoning & Franchises Subcommittees voted unanimously to allow the Coney casino developer to de-map public streets and acquire air rights to build sky bridges and a hotel twice the height allowed by existing zoning ‼️ 1/2
