Lumpen and precarious workers are natural allies in resisting this process *only* if the precarious workers are willing to attack the land market that drives this phenomenon, their utility expires when they strive to ascend to a higher bracket within the labor aristocracy

One thing ppl could internalize, the whole idea of gentrification is going to a community promising to raise it from poverty, only to push out the lumpen on the road to pricing out the so called "precariat" while redefining "the community" to exclude those who can't keep up

This means attracting investment, which means attacking crime hotspots, replacing vacancies with "mixed income", giving police the green light, improving transportation and access to job markets, etc. All things that drive investment and a rise in rents/land values

You see this reflected in redevelopment plans (gentrification) all the time, raising the income, living standards, etc. of an area being a cover for raising property values

Ppl don't realize "low-income" is a relative term Alot of what people are paying for in rents is access to extremely lucrative job markets
