From my first nights as a junior doctor in Royal Cornwall to a substantive Consultant Neurosurgeon post in @OUHospitals —what a journey. Grateful beyond words to my family, the Oxford Neurosurgery & NF2 teams, and my mentor @sanj_jeyaretna for their unwavering support.

Doctors salaries are really messed up
It takes 20 years for a London dr to earn more than a London PA 🤯 I asked O3-Pro to analyse cumulative earnings from the start of their courses onwards, accounting for the London weighting. Docs cumulatively out-earn PAs 21 yrs after starting med school, 6 yrs into consultancy
It's always weird to see these bizarre claims that the committee is "hard left" or "corbynistas". This is a wave of young people aged typically between 23-35 who see Broken Britain for what it is. Raising rent, raising house prices, raising energy prices, raising leisure…
This man was not jailed “for a tweet”. He was jailed for inciting racial hatred. The real horror this exposes about the justice system is that this MP was a magistrate, with the power to determine people’s liberty. This is who it is suggested should replace juries.
Its 2025 and you cant make these things up... Children dying of measles!
🚨 EXCLUSIVE: A child has died after contracting measles in Liverpool, where public health officials fear a growing outbreak of the disease. Full story: thetimes.com/article/bb286d…
A lot of administrative processes are *constantly* being changed not because the changes are actually helpful, but instead because there are people on a committee that are each thinking of their next promotion, and they need a work product and lines on their CV’s.

Yet noone has ever been held accountable for the worst political suicide a western country ever commited.
It's finally here! It's Daniel Hannan Day! The future he promised everyone a mere 2 days before the Brexit referendum is so exciting, I think my heart may burst with joy when I step outside and experience it for myself. (Read it. You deserve a laugh. Link in next post.)
Reform UK is proposing a "Britannia card" that would let wealthy foreigners pay a £250k fee to move to the UK, and live here exempt from all tax on their foreign assets. What they don't say: it would cost the UK £34bn. Thread:
Today is the ninth anniversary of the Brexit vote. In the form of a meme or a gif, how do you think it’s going?

I cannot stress enough how useful are these simple tutorials by @rbarbosa91 for all junior surgeons. Simple, sensible and with lots of pictures!
🧵regarding 'the crimp' and other technical pointers having to do with securing surgical drains with suture. We'll go over my preferred method, other methods like the Roman sandal, some errors people make, and other factoids. (1/ )
Salary reflects responsibility, years of training, and the delivery of an excellent service. In the UK, it’s simply not competitive compared to other developed countries. So yes—it’s a bad salary. And yes—we know our worth.
'Is £145,000 a bad salary?' 'It isn't a bad salary, is it?' 'Would you give me a comment on whether you think it's a bad salary?' @NickFerrariLBC presses the BMA's Dr Mike Henley, as hospital consultants threaten to join junior doctors in strike action.
All doctors in the UK deserve full #payrestoration — not just to correct years of erosion, but to reflect the value, skill, and sacrifice the job demands. A decent pay rise isn’t a luxury. It’s overdue. #wedeservebetter
I hear Reform UK are campaigning in Scotland today. It would be tragic if this went viral again... ~AA
The expanded video of that Richard Tice car crash, during Reform UK's launch in Scotland, is somehow even funnier with subtitles. - "What are their surnames?" - "John and Ross." - "What councils are they from?" - "John and Ross. Next question?" ~AA
"The relationship between PAs and their clinical leads must be recognised for what it is: an ongoing process of direct instruction, not supervision." The physician associate model is one of closely monitored support—not supervision, writes @DrAsifQasim bmj.com/content/389/bm…
Medicine has thousands of eponyms. Most are named for doctors but a few eponyms honor patients. For example, Bacitracin, named for the bacteria Bacillus subtilis var Tracy, was first identified in a little girl “Tracy I.” New post & medical history🧵 1/ onepagericu.com/blog/magnanimo…
