It’s fine to be anti-tank, but you can’t have it both ways 42 of the last 44 NBA champions have won with their best player being drafted or signed in free agency Unless the Nets draft an MVP level player in the late lottery, they are not winning a championship (see odds below)

🚨 Cam Thomas Sign & Trade Rumors: Would swapping Cam for Jaden Ivey make sense for the Nets? 🤔 We break down the latest buzz + Cam’s RFA situation and Zach Lowe’s thoughts in our new YouTube vid 🎥👇
“I also thought Cam Thomas kind of cooked himself a little bit about double teams. There is a reason your getting double teamed its because they don’t think your gonna pass the ball.” Rob Mahoney on Cam Thomas.
Zach Lowe responds to Brooklyn Nets Cam Thomas calling him out. “I do think sometimes he plays like a ball hog and that’s okay because he can score and he’s on a terrible team.” The guy can straight up get buckets there is a place for him in the NBA and in my opinion it is as a…

All fair critiques to Cam Thomas game, however the discussion then turning into “he can never do it” is what bothers me The Nets can pay Cam somewhere in the $18-22M range per year over 2 years to see if these other skills can come along, specifically the passing
“He can flat-out score, no doubt about that,” said an Eastern Conference scout. “But teams want more than a bucket-getter at that price point. You’re talking $25–30 million per year — there’s got to be some defensive buy-in, some playmaking, some winning impact. That’s where the…

Cam Thomas posts new workout pics on Instagram. He has deleted all Brooklyn Nets related posts on his page.
If the Nets gave Cam Thomas a 2 year - $40M contract fully guaranteed, the Nets would still have $20M in cap space left this season and they would have $40M in cap space for 2026 free agency They would still have PLENTY of flexibility even if they slightly overpay Cam Thomas
Sam Vecenie and Bryce Simon talk about Egor Demin’s NBA summer league. “My issue with Egor was never just the shot it was the shot long term mixed in the fact he can’t get by anybody. How is he going to get by anybody at the NBA level if he can’t at summer league.”
ESPN polled 20 anonymous scouts and executives, who named Egor Demin this year’s biggest draft reach. “Even if you believe in Demin as a starting point guard — and I don’t — it felt like he could’ve been had at the end of the lottery, or even later,” said one Eastern Conference…
If it’s true that Thomas has lowered his asking price to $20-25M, then I’d give him that money Only reason you wouldn’t is if you just don’t believe he can improve as a player or be a winning player And if that’s the case, just let him walk or find a sign & trade this summer
Cam Thomas is the most likely restricted free agent to accept his qualifying offer this summer. “The belief around the league is that the Nets don't want to keep him as a focal point long-term, which leads to answers about why they don't want to ink him to a three- or four-year…

I’ve never seen someone get attacked on their ability to attract double teams. If you see that on any basketball court at any level and think “it’s because he can’t pass” then I don’t know what to tell you.
Cam Thomas assists per 36 2021-22: 2.4 2022-23: 3.0 2023-24: 3.3 2024-25: 4.3 Cam has improved as a playmaker each season, no reason to believe he can’t keep getting better

Cam Thomas appears to be frustrated by Brooklyn’s unwillingness to offer him a multi-year deal north of $20M annually. There’s a growing sense that Thomas may opt to accept the qualifying offer with the Nets for this upcoming season to become an unrestricted free agent in 2026.
What we’re witnessing right now is historic We’ve never seen 4 RFAs this deep into free agency before. Whatever happens to these players will be a story for the future
Josh Giddey situation with the Bulls is the most “strained” compared to all the restricted free agents, per @JakeLFischer
I also understand why Cam would take the QO The TO on this deal gives him very little control and it likely means the Nets are trying to flip him at the deadline The QO would be $9M less, but it would grant him control over his next destination
The Nets have only offered Cam Thomas a 2-year deal (with a team option) worth $14.1 million per year, per @JakeLFischer 😳 😳 😳
Either take the QO or take what the Nets are giving him. I'd personally go a little higher into the $20M range to make him happy and because there's no consequence to slightly overpaying him over a 2 year contract, but the Nets have no reason to go higher
According to @JakeLFischer on The Bleacher Report’s Insider Notebook The Nets have only offered Cam Thomas a 2 Year deal with a team option at just above the mid level exception. He also states that Cam is the most likely RFA to accept the qualifying offer.
I can see an unlikely scenario where the Pistons try to get Thomas on a longterm bargain right now instead of paying Jaden Ivey a near max as a way of saving money while still getting offensive firepower from Thomas Again, HIGHLY UNLIKELY
The Detroit Pistons are the favorites to land Cam Thomas, per @BovadaOfficial Detroit Pistons +350 Charlotte Hornets +400 Chicago Bulls +400 Memphis Grizzlies +400 Orlando Magic +650 Utah Jazz +650 Washington Wizards +650
@KDTrey5 help us out with an argument please. Who you want as the coach when you joined the Nets?
