Dear colleagues! We present you our new project PALEOPRO that we are developing from @PreGraphity, in collaboration with @MSCATaphArt and the analytical chemistry department of the @upvehu, and directed by @GarateDiego and @@NeemiasSdR
On the way to Australia 🇦🇺 to take part in the 10th World Archaeological Congress! Looking forward to sharing our research, exchanging ideas, and learning from colleagues around the world. 👉 Check out the details of the session we’re organising: worldarchaeologicalcongress.com/wac10/the-mate…
Call for Papers WAC-10 (2025) - THE MATERIALITY OF ART: CONCEPTUAL, EXPERIMENTAL AND ARCHAEOMETRIC APPROACHES

Call for Papers EAA 2025: INNOVATIVE WAYS OF APPROACHING PREHISTORIC ROCK DEPICTIONS (Session #95) 🔽

Honoured to have given an invited lecture about the taphonomy of rock art paintings at the @ASP2024 Many thanks to Olivia Rivero, Miguel García-Bustos, and the @LabTecUsal team for the invitation and all their hard work in organizing such an excellent event!

We are ready to embark on a new and exciting phase of experiments! This time, in collaboration with our partners at the German Aerospace Center @DLR_de Check out the amazing research they conduct in the fields of aeronautics, space, energy, and security🔽 youtube.com/watch?v=1MYIM6…
It was such a privilege to join colleagues I deeply admire to discuss our perspectives on symbolism and prehistoric art. Many thanks to Beth Velliky @itsevolutionbby and Larissa Mendoza Straffon for the kind invitation!
It was a fantastic couple of days of our "Activating Symbolism" workshop @UiB! Thanks to all of our amazing participants for great discussions and "experiences"! @SapienCE_UiB @PalaeoJenn @NeemiasSdR @izzy_wisher1
We have just presented an overview of the @MSCA TaphArt Project and our study on the impact of wind erosion and marine aerosol degradation on rock art paintings at the #EAA2024 Session #571 "Debating best practices and new approaches for a sustainable study of rock art."
NEW VIDEO on our YouTube channel! Professor Danae Fiore discusses the epistemology of rock art absence and the contribution of the @MSCActions TaphArt project. #rockart #taphonomy #epistemology youtube.com/watch?v=laZsyY…
It’s my pleasure to be involved in the Special Collection “The Chemical Arts: #Chemistry for #Characterisation, #Interpretation and #Management of #CulturalHeritage” that will be published in @ChemPlusChem and @ChemMethods @ChemEurope Deadline: January 31, 2025 More info 👇
What a great day using 3D digital microscopy to record the topographical features of our experimental samples! A special thank you to Dr Amaia Arranz-Otaegui @ArranzOtaeguiA for her invaluable help. It is truly an honour to have her as a partner in our project.
It's time to characterize the samples through hyperspectral imaging! This technique will help us obtain complementary information about the decay of pigments and binders in the eight pictorial recipes we will expose to wind erosion and marine aerosol degradation #ochre #rockart
🚨We are very happy to announce the publication of another article. This one focuses on #VR for the study of cave art.💻🔥 It's available in #OpenAccess @VARjournal ⬇️ polipapers.upv.es/index.php/var/… @Torres_Riesgo @MMedinaAlcaide @inaki_intxaurbe @Rivero_Vila_O @jorios @GarateDiego +
New Paper‼️ In our 🆕 research, we explore how Geometric Morphometric through Elliptic Fourier Analysis (EFA) can revolutionise the study of Palaeolithic art 🤩 📄🔗: rdcu.be/dLy76 Inside thread! 🧵
Another excellent week of work and learning at the University of the Basque Country @upvehu 😃 Over the past few days, we have been using Raman spectroscopy to complement the characterization of our paint samples.
Time to prepare sediment samples from Blombos Cave for XRD analysis! The information derived from this procedure is crucial for calibrating our experiments on the taphonomic impact of wind erosion and marine aerosol degradation on Middle Stone Age ochre paintings.
