Colonel Eric A. Reid gives a brief on the history, legacy, and values of the United States Marine Corps to the plebe Class of 2029. This knowledge is incredibly important as one quarter of each graduating class of midshipmen will commission into the Marine Corps.



Yesterday, the Class of 2029 experienced their first full day with their new detailers for the rest of Plebe Summer training. This fresh set of detailers relieved the detailers that have been molding the plebes into proper midshipmen since I-Day during yesterday’s ceremony.

Last night the Class of 2029 participated in The Wrestling Smoker in Alumni Hall during plebe summer. All contestants showed an incredible amount of heart, grit, and desire to win.


Midshipmen from USNA’s Cyber Science and Computer Science Departments traveled to South Korea and Japan this summer through the Cyber Asia Language, Regional Expertise, and Culture (LREC) program, engaging directly with global cyber leaders.

Sails up and lessons underway! Each summer, the USNA Sailing Center introduces plebes to the fundamentals of sailing, knot tying, and seamanship. With over 10 hours of classroom and on-the-water instruction, plebes gain confidence and competence on the water.


From fire hoses to flood response—plebes dive into the fundamentals of damage control. These hands-on skills are essential for staying safe and mission-ready at sea. Every lesson brings them one step closer to becoming fleet-ready sailors.



Our cyber midshipmen were granted special access to the UK Prime Minister’s residential security area for a group photo. Now in Cambridge, the mids are diving into discussions on cybersecurity, AI, and quantum computing developments at Cambridge University.

Midshipman took part in Exercise Sea Warrior, a demanding 10-day leadership development program hosted by the Norwegian Naval Academy. They honed their leadership, resilience, and decision-making skills in a high-pressure, field-based environment designed to forge naval officers.


After non-stop training, early mornings, and perfectly squared corners, Plebes finally get a much needed moment to call home. It’s their first phone call of the summer— a chance to hear familiar voices and get a boost of motivation to keep charging through the summer.

Last night, USNA celebrated Independence Day with the annual 4th of July firework show! The #ClassOf2029 and the public had the opportunity to celebrate the freedoms we have been granted thanks to all of those who have sacrificed to protect these rights worldwide.

Plebes take their first steps on Worden Field during their first practice parade, learning the fundamentals of marching, cadence, and the manual of arms. With each repetition, they build the precision and discipline needed for the formal parade season ahead.

I DO! Yesterday, the Class of 2029 took the Oath of Office, officially beginning their journey as plebes at the U.S. Naval Academy. This ceremony marks their commitment to serve and lead with honor, courage, and integrity. Welcome aboard, Class of 2029!


Today, the U.S. Naval Academy is welcoming the Class of 2029 midshipmen candidates during Induction Day 2025. I-Day marks the beginning of a demanding six-week indoctrination period called Plebe Summer that is intended to transition the candidates from civilian to military life.



U.S. Naval Academy in-processing began today for the Class of 2029 midshipmen candidates who come directly from the fleet, attended the U.S. Naval Academy Preparatory School (NAPS), and are international students.



The U.S. Naval Academy held the Change of Leadership ceremony today in Dahlgren Hall for the Commandant of Midshipmen Capt. Walter H. Allman III who was properly relieved by Capt. Gilbert E. Clark, Jr.
