Somerset extends their lead to 3-0. Brendan Jones blasted his eighth homer to start the inning before back-to-back doubles by George Lombard and Roc Riggio got the third run. Vrieling has been great so far.
Josh Grosz with a quality start: 6.1 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 BB, 6 K, 12 whiffs Third run was inherited and allowed by Tyrone Yulie. HV is down 5-0.
We have a pair of matinees this afternoon. HV is down 2-0 in the seventh. Somerset has an early 1-0 lead on a Dylan Jasso RBI single. Trystan Vrieling is going for Somerset, while Josh Grosz just finished up for HV.
From 2019-22, these players from both teams showed up in a Top 50 list on Pipeline, BA, or BP. Note: Stone and Peraza barely got on one list (48, 50) Who’s the best player from the Dodgers? An injury prone May? The Yankees’ list isn’t impressive but not as plentiful.
People don’t want to have the conversation but the Dodgers have a lot more highly touted guys that don’t pan out than the Yankees. Sure, Deivi didn’t pan out but Cartaya is far from the only disappointing Dodger.

The Twins released catcher Diego Cartaya, a former top prospect with the Dodgers, after they claimed Jhonny Pereda off waivers. Cartaya had five hits in 59 at-bats (.085 average) with 40 strikeouts in AAA.
For those on Spencer Jones watch, he went 0-3 with a walk and a strikeout. Rare hitless day. His updated K% is 26.5% through 83 PA since his promotion.
SWB got crushed for their first loss in almost two weeks, ending their 11-game losing streak. Rafael Flores blasted his first Triple-A homer late at 106.8 MPH and 413 feet. Good relief from Jayvien Sandridge, Joel Kuhnel, and Harrison Cohen late.
Tampa lost 6-3. Andrew Landry struggled early, allowing five runs in 4.2 innings. Gus Hughes tossed two shutout late. Three hits for Willy Montero, two for Juan Matheus. Enmanuel Tejada goes 0-3 with a walk and an RBI in his return.
HV bounced back from a bad eighth to win 4-3. Manuel Palencia knocked in the go-ahead run with a single in the bottom of the eighth. Despite an error and blown save, Geoff Gilbert gets the win. Hueston Morrill picks up his fifth save.
Somerset blew an early lead and lost 4-3 in extras. Lombard singled and walked twice. Avina went deep again (six in last 10 games). Ryan Anderson allowed the tying run, Hayden Merda got four quick outs, and Indigo Diaz allowed the ghost runner to score in the tenth.

HV was in great shape after a seventh inning RBI single by Anthony Hall made it 3-0, but a rocky inning by Sebastian Keane that fell apart after a pickoff error by Geoff Gilbert tied it at 3.
Tampa was down 6-0 after six, but have gotten a few runs back. Three straight singles with one out loaded the bags in the seventh for a pair of RBI walks by Enmanuel Tejada and Marshall Toole. Willy Montero ripped an RBI single in the eighth. 6-3.
Kyle Carr tonight: 6.2 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 7 K, 14 whiffs He’s showed more than enough to get a promotion. There’s a logjam in Somerset so they might wait until after the deadline to see if anyone is moved.
Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz tonight: 7 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 7 K, 15 whiffs A lot better than his Double-A debut, where he allowed six runs (three earned) on nine hits. No longer in line for the win, as Erie tied it in the eighth.
HV is up 2-0 after five. Jose Colmenares had a Little League HR on an RBI double to left field in the fourth. Kyle Carr has been sharp.
Somerset leads 3-1 after six. An E6 in the fourth got them in front before a big blast by Jace Avina extended the lead. Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz looked good thus far.
After nine rehab games with the FCL, Enmanuel Tejada has been activated off the injured list and will start at 2B and bat sixth for Tampa tonight. He went 8-for-27 with 3 doubles and 4 walks in rehab. Hit .326 last year.
