Skimming devices can capture your info and funds. Always inspect the terminal before swiping and tug the card reader. Cover the keyboard when entering your PIN. If you find a skimmer, call 911 immediately.

Scammers are constantly finding new ways to steal your money and take advantage of your heart. Check out this tip about romance scams. Never give a stranger (or someone you never met) access to your money. If you think you've been the victim of a scam, call 646-610-SCAM.

If you're buying/selling items, the NYPD encourages you use one of our "E-Commerce Exchange Zones" at every Precinct, Transit District, and PSA. These areas are well lit and have 24-hour surveillance. You do not have to come inside and there is no need to make an appointment.

Bicycle collisions are on the rise. Bicyclists, please: 🚲 Watch for Pedestrians. 🚲 Do not ride recklessly. 🚲 Use marked bicycle lanes. 🚲 Travel in the direction of traffic. 🚲 Obey all traffic lights, stop signs, and one-way signs. 🚲 Always use safety equipment.

Be cautious of monetary donations through Venmo, CashApp, or Zelle. The scam is the suspect will say, "There was a problem with the transaction, and I need to see your phone." Never give anyone your phone, EVER! They will transfer large sums of money from your account.
