7/23/2019 Robinson Canó goes 4-for-4 with three home runs and five RBI against the Padres. Canó becomes the thirteenth Met to hit three homers in a game.
7/22/2004 One day after his debut, David Wright collects his first major league hit. Wright would record 1,777 hits over 14 seasons with the Mets, the most in team history.
7/22/2017 Wilmer Flores hits a walk-off solo homer to beat the Athletics.
7/22/1988 A pair of Mets reach career milestones versus the Braves. First, Doc Gooden strikes out Dion James for the 1,000th strikeout of his career. Two innings later, Mookie Wilson records his 1,000th career hit off Tom Glavine. @DocGooden16
7/22/1986 Davey Johnson gets creative with the Mets’ defense alignment following ejections of Darryl Strawberry, Ray Knight, and Kevin Mitchell. Johnson moves Gary Carter to third and rotates Jesse Orosco and Roger McDowell between pitcher and outfield. @rogermcdowell45
7/22/1986 A benches-clearing brawl between the Mets and Reds takes place after Eric Davis steals third base. Davis, Ray Knight, Kevin Mitchell, and Mario Soto are all ejected following the fight.
7/22/1986 With two runners on in the 12th inning of a tie game, Keith Hernandez makes an impressive play on a bunt to start a 3-5-4 double play. @keithhernandez
7/21/1975 Tom Seaver and Jim Palmer appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Seaver (22-9, 2.38 ERA) and Palmer (23-11, 2.09 ERA) would both win the Cy Young Awards in their respective leagues.

7/21/1975 Joe Torre sets a National League record by grounding into four double plays in a single game. After the game, Torre tells reporters that he “couldn’t have set a record without” Félix Millán, who singled before each of Torre’s at-bats.

7/21/1998 Rick Reed allows six hits and strikes out nine over eight shutout innings. New York scores four runs in the third inning and beats Pittsburgh 4-0.
7/21/2006 John Maine allows four hits in a complete game shutout against Houston. José Valentín and Carlos Delgado both homer and combine to drive in all seven runs in the victory.
7/21/2004 David Wright makes his major league debut. Before his call-up, the 21-year-old Wright was slashing .341/.441/.605 with 18 homers in 91 games between Binghamton and Norfolk.
7/20/1985 The Mets hit for the home run cycle for the first time in team history. Darryl Strawberry goes 3-for-5 with a grand slam and three-run homer, Howard Johnson hits a two-run shot, and Danny Heep and Clint Hurdle provide solo blasts. @20Hojo @ClintHurdle13
