Among those we met at Birmingham Mela today was retired caretaker Ramesh, 67, who signed up to #BePartofResearch via the NHS app on the spot. He said: “It's really important for ethnic minorities to sign up, so more of us can benefit." bepartofresearch.nihr.ac.uk

Mum of one Surinder (L) is diabetic and would recommend anyone to #BePartofResearch. She said: "Getting involved in research is a brilliant idea and I'll be signing up to join a diabetes trial. I'm a teacher and will ask my colleagues to join too."

Suki (R) is at the Birmingham Mela and wants to #BePartofResearch. The 55-year-old has previously taken part in the Galleri cancer trial, a blood test to detect multiple cancers. She said: "There is something for everyone to get involved with. It's good to help research excel."
