My first impression of Jordan Hicks was very positive. I can imagine a combination of Chapman, Hicks, Slaten, and Whitlock being pretty nasty if they’re all healthy and pitching well. Also, the option to flip either Chapman or Wilson at the deadline.
The recent obsession with Payton Tolle is starting to get out of hand, in my opinion. No one would seriously rather trade Marcelo Mayer over Payton Tolle, right? You’re going to have to give up something to get something at the deadline this year.
In my opinion this is your best possible lineup. Duran/Anthony split time at DH and Toro/Romy platoon at first. You don’t need to trade an outfielder to get everyone playing time. If they plan to upgrade at first let Romy mix in at 2nd against lefties.
Red Sox lineup: Duran LF, Bregman 3B, Anthony DH, Narváez C, Abreu RF, Story SS, Mayer 2B, Rafaela CF, Toro 1B, Giolito P
If the Red Sox are truly looking for controllable starting pitching and the Twins hold firm, this might be my next favorite option. He’s more proven than Edward Cabrera and offers more reliability than Sandy at this point. Mitch Keller is still a great pitcher (121 ERA+) and is…
The #Pirates “seem torn” on whether or not they want to trade SP Mitch Keller ahead of the trade deadline, per @Ken_Rosenthal
I was in attendance tonight in Baltimore, and they asked the entire lower bowl to evacuate to the concourse with ZERO explanation. I’m not familiar with Camden Yards, so I went around asking groups of fans if this had ever happened before. Every single one of them said no. How…
I’ve never seen this at a baseball game before. We are still playing, rain is coming down, but they have asked fans to clear all exposed seats because of lightning and thunder. It’s pretty weird…
I can’t believe this Red Sox fanbase wants Jarren Duran gone before Masataka Yoshida. They need to put the best players on the field, and anyone with a brain knows Yoshida isn’t one of them.
Marcelo Mayer’s wrist is fully wrapped and braced. I really hope it isn’t a hamate bone injury. Here is the link to the tik tok. tiktok.com/t/ZT6r7SDrL/

If you’re upset about not trading Jarren Duran for Dylan Cease and Ethan Salas, that’s understandable. But I think it’s important to point out that Marcelo Mayer will most likely miss a significant amount of time, which now allows for Duran, Abreu, Anthony, and Rafaela to play…
The Mariners’ No. 13 and No. 16 prospects. Garcia has pitched a few games out of the bullpen in the big leagues this year. A comparable package from the Red Sox would be something like David Sandlin and Juan Valera.
Left-hander Brandyn Garcia and right-hander Ashton Izzi are headed back to the Arizona Diamondbacks from the Seattle Mariners for first baseman Josh Naylor, sources tell ESPN. That's the full trade. And so begins deadline season. Buckle up.
I need the return NOW!!!
BREAKING: The Seattle Mariners are acquiring first baseman Josh Naylor from the Arizona Diamondbacks, sources tell ESPN.

Aroldis Chapman in the 7th inning…it doesn’t get much more must win than tonight!
The Red Sox have swung and missed an absurd 56 times against the Phillies’ starting pitching in this series. We all know how great this rotation is but they finally made an adjustment in the 5th inning of game 3. Zack Wheeler 22 whiffs Christopher Sanchez 19 whiffs Jesus…

Dear Craig Breslow… do whatever it takes.

What would a trade package for both Edward Cabrera and Ronny Henriquez from the Marlins look like? A similar package: Mitch Keller and David Bednar from the Pirates. Who would you rather target?
If the Red Sox decide to move on from Aroldis Chapman, a topic that has the fanbase split, here is my favorite controllable relief pitcher I’d love to see them target at the deadline: Ronny Henriquez is under team control through 2031, so the Marlins don’t have to trade him, but…
The Red Sox did everything they possibly could to make sure Roman Anthony wouldn’t finish top two in the Rookie of the Year voting. At this point, it should be a non-issue. If he does win, it would definitely suck to lose a full year of service time — but it probably also means…
And Roman Anthony would be rewarded with an full year of service time if he’s top 2, hitting free agency a year ahead of time
Kyle Stowers over Shohei Ohtani, and Major League Baseball claims they want to grow the game…
They’re going to have a swing-off to decide the MLB All-Star Game, but they couldn’t have a swing-off to determine who won between Cal Raleigh and Brent Rooker?
I’d rather see Connor Wong (1 RBI) compete in the Home Run Derby over Jazz Chisholm Jr… and I’m not even joking.
