Absolutely convinced the left wing/centre combo to start 2026 will be Masi and May. Lots of question marks elsewhere but that seems the obvious strength/thing to look forward to. Would argue Masi’s ‘floor’ is Jeral.
Moving your halfback to the middle when the game is gone and getting busted in a one on one with a middle forward. Genius
Can we at least please invest in either a good defensive assistant or attacking assistant? When the energy is gone and you can’t just rely on effort it’s jarring how far off they are as a team. No structures in sight.
Wests moved to 8th last night with a 8-1-11 record, having had a 2-8 record through 10 rounds. Wests are undefeated this year (3 wins, 1 draw) against their final 4 opponents + have a bye in hand. #NSWCup
Still nothing from the club on his contract status, but given the lack of middles across the competition, Peter Taateo should be considered a real chance to debut before the end of the season and to win a top 30 deal. Been a huge midseason pick up for Wests.
Now confirmed that Javon Andrews will make his #QldCup debut this weekend for Tweed Heads
5/8 Javon Andrews, who has been linked with a return to the WT system next year, is currently playing his footy in the NRLQ u20s competition, where he is captaining the Titans. He has also been named in the Tweed Heads Seagulls 21 man squad for their Qld Cup game this weekend.
Wests really struggle to create and rely on individuals, but now 6 wins, 3 losses and a draw from their last 10 games. Had chances to go ahead in all 3 losses late in the second half also. #NSWCup
FT #NSWCup Wests 24 def. North Sydney 22 Tries to Luke Laulilii, Joe Lovodua, Alex Lobb and Charlie Murray The 8 point try the difference in the end for Wests. Prop Peter Taateo with an absolutely outstanding performance. Huge in both attack and defence.
North Sydney scoot over following a loose ball and its 24-22 inside the final 10 Wests really struggling to create anything and Norths have been on the front foot for the entire half.
North Sydney got the score back to 18-16 with all the running but Luke Laulilii’s try and Falls going 1/2 on the 8 point try sees them kick back out to a 24-16 lead with approx 12 mins to go #NSWCup
Possible 8 point try for Wests after Luke Laulilii cops a swinging arm as he dives over in the corner. Thankfully given Luke’s history, he is on his feet.
HT #NSWCup Wests 18 lead North Sydney 0 Tries to Alex Lobb, Joe Lovodua and Charlie Murray Huge first 25 mins from Wests who rolled straight through Norths at will. 2 tries from dummy half and another from close range through the middle.
Charlie Murray, who has moved to hooker, skips out of dummy half and extends the lead for Wests. Lobb converts and the Magpies lead 18-0 with 5 mins remaining in the first half #NSWCup
Kurt Falls is off for Wests for a HIA. That means Wests’s primary general play kicking option is Brent Naden. 👑
Wests lead North Sydney 12-0 after 20 mins. Tries to Joe Lovodua and Alex Lobb, which were simple one out runs. Wests absolutely rolling through the Bears off the back of Peter Taateo, Royce Hunt and the backs. Few great effort plays to force drop outs also. #NSWCup
The fact there has been 60 odd new Tigers players play first grade since Jock debuted has blown my mind
