I have relied heavily on the REC Curricylum Writers’ handbook in devising our new curriculum. Been lucky enough to touch base/hear from Gillian Georgiou throughout the year as we have been using her teacher framework q’s to reframe units #REChatUK
#REChatUK all students benefit from diverse and authentic voices. The appreciation from students has been heartwarming.
At GCSE my students became masters at interpreting the Ramayana and Bhagvad Gita to fit the themes topics - in ways I wouldn’t. They have basically improved my resourcing for next year. #REChatUk
Yes. My y11s this year (and last) said how much RS had helped them in their English lit. #REchatUK
Thank you to @KatieKates_84 and @JoanneH_RE for hosting tonight's #REChatUK. We will be back on September 8th.
Lesson in our new unit on ‘Why is Christianity the way it is?’ Looking at the views of jehovahs witnesses through case studies. This year has been tough but v rewarding. Survived my first yr in my new role/Trust. We have rewritten the whole of KS3 which I’m so proud of #REChatUK
Q12: Have there been any funny or memorable moments in your RE classroom this year that still make you smile? #REChatUk
Final question for the evening - What’s one thing you’ve learned from your students this year in RE that you didn’t expect to? #REChatUk
A teacher from another subject asking me what “intellectual humility” is because Yr7 keep saying it to her. Also another student saying that English Lit is RE in disguise. 😂 And Yr11 telling me after their exam that they felt prepared & there were no surprises. #REChatUK
#REChatUk Never underestimate Early Years pupils. (But I learn that every year!)
#REChatUK conversations around why ALevel RE is important and an increase in cohort numbers for September!
I used AI to create some questions for my Year 11s to gather information about the Assisted Dying Bill earlier this year, looking at what it was proposed and comparing it to countries where assisted dying had already been legalised. It promoted some great discussion #REChatUK
Join NATRE's New2RE programme for ECTs. Final session of this year is next monday and current trainees can come too (just this time) Empower Your Teaching: Join our New2RE monthly webinars | NATRE #REChatuk
#REChatUK Year 1s talking to our local vicar about incarnation. His face was in awe. Plus the entries that my school have made to Spirited Arts.
I’ve really loved teaching about pilgrimage and the opportunity to be at the launch of pilgrimage for BBC was really special! I took so much back for my classes and they loved having their questions answered! Thank you so much to the team #REChatUK
