“I was born with HIV. Growing up was tough not just because of poverty, but the stigma I faced at school. I almost gave up. I had no friends, no one checking in. Where were the faith leaders? As religious leaders, we must go beyond preaching. Be human first. Ask, listen,…
Religious leaders play a powerful role in shaping beliefs, values and behaviors within communities. As we continue to advance sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR), collaboration with faith leaders is essential. Why? Because when moral leadership aligns with public…
To achieve inclusivity, we need to apply an intersectional approach lens to sexual & reproductive health & rights. Intersectionality recognizes that individuals experience overlapping & interconnected systems of oppression based on race, gender, class, sexuality & disability.
Faith leaders have been asked to talk about sex, consent, health & healing. Not in whispers, but on the pulpit, in mosques, at youth camps. The youth don’t want pity! “We need sex education. We need to save both spirit & body.” #InterfaithDialogue25 #Faith4YouthHealth

“We are not just treating symptoms we must care for souls. Before anything else, you’re a parent, a neighbor, a human. Young people are struggling. Some don’t make it. We know them we see them. Let our places of worship be safe spaces.” @jimboshanurah Miss Y+ 2024…
Faith leaders have been challenged to face the uncomfortable truth. Religion has been absent, or worse, complicit. It’s not enough to say “abstinence only.” Girls need protection. Boys need education. Communities need truth and care. #InterfaithDialogue25
From slums to sanctuaries, young girls are getting pregnant due to abuse, drugs, and systemic neglect. Where are the adults? These are not rare cases and too many happen under the watch of religious silence. #InterfaithDialogue25 #Faith4YouthHealth
Faith leaders went beyond prayer and spoke boldly on real-life health challenges like HIV, mental health, SRHR, drug abuse & domestic violence. Love is central to faith, and caring for physical, emotional & mental well-being is part of our mission. #InterfaithDialogue25
At today’s #InterfaithDialogue25, one central theme stood out: faith leaders as frontline actors in transforming public health systems. Faith institutions reach people far beyond clinics. Churches, mosques & temples are spiritual homes but also places of healing, hope & support.

Join @SRHRAllianceUg on X Spaces to learn more about the different aspects of discrimination that affect your access to healthcare specifically sexual and reproductive health and rights. Set a reminder here: #SRHR4ALL
Intersectionality is the key to understanding how different forms of discrimination affect access to healthcare, bodily autonomy & rights. For example, economic inequality, cultural & social stigmas, legal & policy discrimination, GBV & barriers to access affect us differently.
The woman in Rakai is affected by cultural & religious stigma, socioeconomic status, and policy restrictions. This might not be the case for the woman in Kololo who can afford private healthcare, which is why we need our policies and healthcare systems to be inclusive.
Different things affect your access to healthcare, especially regarding sexual and reproductive health and rights. For example, a sex worker in Kololo might have more access to contraception and safe abortion services as compared to the sex worker in Rakai.
