The Bel Lab, boldly going where no one else bothers to. @ERC_Research funded lab. Former @LHooperLab postdoc. Opinions are my microbiota's. #NewPI
🚨🚨I’m excited to present our lab’s new paper where we tried to provide a mechanistic explanation for the link between antibiotic use and risk of developing inflammatory bowel diseases (#IBD). A 🧵/1 science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…
It took me more than 10 days before I could enter Ullman and climb to the burnt lab. Heartbreaking. Thankful to @WeizmannScience for helping us get up on our feet and look forward.
A big week for the first author of this translational paper on anemia in IBD, Andy Lei, who successfully defended his PhD thesis yesterday and walks in the @UCRiverside Commencement tomorrow! @UCRSoM @UCRBiomedSciPhD 👏👏🍾

Some personal news: I was promoted to Full Professor at @UChicago. This milestone is deeply meaningful and also feels quite surreal. When I started as a grad student at UChicago in 2005 I never imagined my journey would lead me here 20 years later as a professor
1/4 I am saddened of the passing of my former Ph.D. mentor, Prof. Zelig Eshhar, earlier this week. Zelig pioneered the development of CAR-T therapy (which he dubbed “the T body approach”) decades before immunotherapy became a hallmark of cancer treatment. In recent years, he...
245 new doctors were certified this week at @Bar_ilan’s Azrieli Faculty of Medicine in the Galilee! Despite security challenges, they trained under pressure — and 58% are women A generation of bold, compassionate physicians 💪🏼 #MedicalEducation #Israel #Healthcare
Congratulations Christin Herrmann and team for publishing this super cool discovery 😎 nature.com/articles/s4156… Here’s a quick summary of our cool findings about how stress due to simple mouse husbandry drives clearance of persistent enteric viral infection 🦠🐭 1/5

“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo. “So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
This is what’s left of my lab😞. Finally heading back home. I need to stand, with my two legs, in front of the rubble that was just a few days - my thriving lab, a home for excellent Israeli Jews and arab, as well as foreigners students. This will be my first step of acceptance.
I have received an email apologizing for a misunderstanding. The scientific advisory board members did not know about this and were not part of this.
On leadership & support- meet the amazing first responder team (partial) who voluntarily worked during first 12h, in darkness, smoke, and ashes, to save a building's precious frozen biological samples (most saved). No words to describe the courage and dedication of these people.
Ashamed this is happening in my field. Excluding scientists based on nationality is discrimination, period. For anyone in the microbiome field, I strongly recommend avoiding the @BeneMicro conference
This behavior is absolutely shameful, @BeneMicro. It's shocking to see some of the names in the field that are affiliated with a decision like this: beneficialmicrobes.events/advisory-commi…
I am happy i am not attending this conference. The organizers are discriminating people simply based on their nationality. Shame!

On Thursday, we had a lab BBQ. On Saturday, my life’s work has been destroyed by an Iranian missile. Today, I received the Heidenthal award in Systems Biology. Here is what I said in my award lecture: facebook.com/share/p/1Fpm1Q…
How sad and frustrating that this is where we are. Science should be recognized for great science. No politics. Period.
